PDC Unicorn Darts schedule announced
The upcoming tournament of PDC Unicorn darts schedule of 2012 has been announced.
The event, which will continue for seven consecutive weeks, will comprise of three tournaments each with prize money of 3000 pounds.
Unlike other tournaments of darts, the PDC Unicorn will not be held only in UK but will also spread the popularity of darts to other countries, such as Germany and Netherlands.
While finalising the schedule, it was decided that the first five weeks of the event will be held in UK, whereas the remaining two weeks will be held in other countries, among which Germany and Netherlands top the list of priority.
The platform provided by PDC Unicorn is unique, as it provides 21 young and talented amateur darts players the opportunity of showcasing their darts skills and potential.
Moreover, the event will also be pivotal, as it will help these players to compete in the World Youth Championship, which will take place at the end of the year.
Hence, all these players will be competing against each other for a 90,000 pound purse at the end of the year.
With each game consisting of seven legs, two events will take place on Saturday, whereas the rest of tournament will take place on Sunday.
All the matches have been scheduled to begin at 12pm. Venues selected for the matches to take place on the weekends are as follows:
April 21 & 22 - Moorways Centre, Derby

May 19 & 20 - Rivermead Centre, Reading

June 2 & 3 - Venue TBC, Germany or Holland

July 14 & 15 - Barnsley Metrodome

August 4 & 5 - Moorways Centre, Derby

September 29 & 30 - Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan
The prize for ticket has been kept at 30 pounds and, in due course, tickets will also be available online.
In addition to this, the minimum eligible age set for participation of the players in the tournament has been kept at 14 years, with 21 being the maximum.
The age limit has intentionally been kept low to encourage maximum number of youngsters to develop their interests in the game of darts.
Along with this, the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship will be preceded by the other 21 youth based darts events that will take place the same year.
The details of these events have not been disclosed yet. However, it is confirmed that the events will allow the participants to purse whopping 30,000 pounds prize.
It is important to mention here that the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour of 2011 was won by the Dutch darts player, Michael van Gerwen.
The second place was secured by Paul Barham, along with World Youth Championship finalist James Hubbard, who is expected to turn professional this year, after he has triumphantly secured the Tour Card for himself.
