I'm in gr.8 and today, the teacher told us to practise with some gr.10s and i got in a group with 3 10th grade guys. I tried my best to serve and hit well but I always get an out and the guys always get impatient with me and some other dudes always spaz at me and even though ONE of my friends defended me, I feel that I need to improve.

There are some volleyball classes in my school but it's like $50 a month so of course my mother will say no. I also don't have a volleyball and all my good, volleyballer friends moved to different high schools after our elementary grad so they basically just left me.

How can I improve? Also, the "teacher" is a gr.12 because the teacher's "busy" coaching some other class.

  1. Try find a local USYVL branch. They have spring and winter seasons. Each player will receive a Tachikara ball, which is so soft that will never hurt your fingers. It meets about 15 times each season for about $120. They will teach you everything from serving to spiking (over a lower net), and share lots of fun with you.

  2. I was always horrible in volleyball in PE. I wouldn't worry about it. Just try your best. Not everyone is athletic or good at every sport.

  3. Go to any sports store and buy a volleyball (they sell them at k-mart too). Its all about practicing. Look for diagrams and such on the internet, and just have fun. Really just practicing helps the most. Its not really about endurance or anything, just practice.

HAVE TONS OF FUN cuz volleyball is just a great sport and a great way to stay in shape.

  4. Go to your volleyball team practice.  See how they do things and see if you can copy them.  See if you can ask one of them questions after practice.  Or see if you can ask the coach.  They may not take the time, but they just may love the game and want to help you.

Do not worry about what the other people are thinking about you.  If you try your best, that is all you can do.  If they have a problem with the way you play, then THEY have a problem.

  5. Well the way i learned to play was keep Practiceing at it.

and eventually you will get better..

    I have played for 6 years and i wouldn't say i'm prefect..

Everyone used to laugh at me and i laughed with them..

But the main thing is push yourself!!

  6. Honestly, I don't think you should waste $50 on a clinic for volleyball just so the guys stop making fun of you once you improved. You should only want to join a clinic if you want to be better for YOURSELF and only yourself.

Talk the the "teacher", tell him/her that you don't feel comfortable being put with sophomores that have so much experience. Ask him if you can be put with a group that is just the same as you, so you can slowly learn how to play. Best of luck for the rest of the volleyball unit!
