PERU -CREDIT CARDS ? A website recommended Visa cards in Peru. Is Mastercard commonly accepted by ATMs?

Visa credit card is widely accepted in Peru.  Unfortunately I know of two incidents this year, one at a restaurant in Lima, one at a hotel in Lima, where the credit card number was stolen.

I had Mastercard in Peru and it was not accepted everywhere so I cancelled it. Visa is the best and then American express but I would not opt for a Mastercard as my sole credit card. You can use it as a backup I have been to places in the States where Mastercard was also not accepted. Dont know why.

The absolutely best credit card to use ANYWHERE in the world is VISA... Master Card may only be usable in one of their banks and American Express is even worse.
