Question:

PETA trying to force Buckingham Palace guards to get new hats?

It seems they have taken offense that the hats are made of bear skin. So now they want a different hat made out of fake fur, or some other material. They say that each guard wearing an entire bear on his head does not show that England is living in the modern world. Do you think that PETA is getting rediculous with their demands?

  1. I personally think the Bearskin hats look pretty silly and are only still used because they've done so for hundreds of years. The bearskins alone to make the hats supposedly cost around $650 each - kind of a lot of money to spend on a ceremonial hat.

But what many critics don't like to admit is that they haven't found any suitable artificial alternatives, or that the hats are made from culled bears. It certainly doesn't help that PETA is rearing its ugly head again - a load of close-minded, inethical and hypocritical twits they are.

I couldn't care about the cruelty side of things - I eat meat, don't I? But get neater, cheaper hats that look cooler or something.

  2. I can understand being against animal cruelty, but PETA is just nuts and hypocritical.  They even think just keeping animals as pets is wrong.  They think all animals should just be free to roam the streets freely.

  3. I find it offensive they are trying to change our traditions centuries old, and trying to change the inevitable fact of life, humans are top of the food chain, we eat animals like bears, why should we  let the fur go to waste?

As long as the bears are treated and killed humanely I have no issue, there are more pressing issues in the world right now.

  4. PETA has cool looking hats. The PETA hats look like butt cheeks. The PETA people should take their hats off and get a breath of fresh air occasionally.

The Buckingham Palace Guards should not change a thing. The bear fur hats last for many years. It is likely there has not been a bear killed to make a new uniform hat in many years. The uniform items are very well maintained. These are not cheap hats that must be replaced often.

To replace the hats with ones made of synthetic materials requires the use of petroleum products that others will complain of pollution and "global warming".No matter what people do, someone else will be sure to whine about it.

  5. MOD already did a study on replacing the bearskin cap with an artificial material.  Results are forthcoming.  In the meantime, new bearsking caps are made from roadkill and culled bears.  PETA needs a nice warm cup of STFU.

btw - properly maintained, the caps can last up to 100 years.  Bears only last for 25 years and are rated 'LC' (least concern) on the World Conservation status.

  6. In a way i think PETA is great. They are helping the animals but the Buckingham Palace guards is going alittle to far. They are known for there uniform.

  7. Why would People Eating Tasty Animals care?

Seriously, they aren't "getting" ridiculous, they've been there for quite some time now.

  8. I eat meat...I like leather items....purses, boots, belts ...etc....I would wear a fur coat if someone got me one.....I think they are completely beyond ridiculous...."Lets be super nice to the animals before we eat them" This is a local PETA story that was so stupid!!!! http://blog.peta.org/archives/2007/12/me...

    Yeah that's right ...Monks......

  9. No, I don't think PETA is ridiculous, I think the organization is following through with its fight against animal cruelty and for animal rights.  I do think it is ridiculous and cruel to wear a hat made of an entire bear.

  10. they are the worst type of organazation.PEOPLE EATING TASTEY ANIMALS.

  11. If they think that is the most pressing need in the world right now, I think humanity is on its way out...

  12. NO it's not ridiculous at all. What is ridiculous is continuing to wear those stupid hats. If it's absolutely necessary to have something bizarre on your head in public, it does not need to be hacked off of an animal, does it? You can do wonders with synthetics these days--you can mimic anything at all. And ten times cheaper. Stupid, traditionalistic tosh.

  13. PETA has always been ridiculous. If God didn't want us to eat animals He wouldn't have made them taste good.
