i feel so bad for the jocky he said himself "As I was galloping her out I heard a pop and she shifted her weight to her left side, and before I could pull her up she collapsed" The vet even said that he watched the tapes over and over and when she took a slight miss step at the end of the race she was still going fine, and she started the odd step about 10 seconds before Eight Belles collasped. That is just about when the jocky would feel the funney step and start to pull her up and it would take 30-45 more seconds for her to stop after the exillheration on the race.

PETA is just a front for another leftist liberal extremist group that picks and chooses their "animal causes" based upon what newsflashes run by them on any given day.  If the horse at the Kentucky Derby did not get euthanized on the track, PETA would have shut their mouths and butt into the next animal related newsworthy item.

Anyway, my experience with observing PETA "members for hire" during demonstrations and protests in San Francisco is basically when they used to throw either animal blood or red paint at women in SF's Union Square shopping district that wear leather or fur.  By spilling animal blood that they purchase from butchers or Asian markets, or staining the fur of animal hides, are they not desecrating the spirit of that animal?

They're backwards in thinking and basically the same people that are disturbing the Olympic Flame as it makes it's way around the world.  Just a bunch of liberal scum.

Somehow I do not think that is true. While the jockey may have an emotional attachment to a horse, it is, at the end of the day, a business. If jockeys really cared for horses, one has to wonder why they support a sport which kills so many horses.

PETA is pathetic. Im tired of hearing about them. They need to stop pointing fingers, and wake up and realize that Eight Belles death was an ACCIDENT. The jockey feels bad enough as it is.

And they are against domestic pets. Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I'm sure that guy is feeling more sadness than PETA does right now, and it bothers me that they think they can just go around saying it was probably his fault.

Well I think PETA needs to realize that if the horse would have been injured before the race she never would have moved.  And never would have made it around the track at all.  If it was up to PETA horse racing would be banished.  Horse racing has been around since horses have been domesticated.

And comparing it to dog fighting is not even close.  Dogs are not ment to fight.  But horses are ment for running, and they love it.

I hate PETA. They think they know everything about horse racing but they dont see what goes on behind the scenes in hte barns where the horses are loved and cared for. Larry and Cindy Jones are amazing horse people and didnt intend on this to happen. And Gabriel is not responsible for the injury. Same with the track;it had nothing to do with the injury. This was just a freak accident.
