PGA Q-school is over now, Nationwide Tour gaining success
The PGA Qualifying School is no more in the list of the official tournaments. Players have to follow a different policy now, in order to qualify for the PGA Tour season.
New amendments are for the qualifying players. This news was revealed by the PGA Tour Commissioner, Tim Finchem.
He announced last Tuesday that the PGA Tour season will start in October and now the only chance players have to qualify for the PGA Tour season is by playing well at the Nationwide Tour.
"I think the player directors felt ... a lot of times, it's easier to get everybody focused when you know it's going to happen," Finchem said.
He continued, "So this is going to happen. And now we've got a couple of things that we have got to make sure we do right".
This concept had been pending for a long time and has now been approved by the board members.
These changes are expected to develop more interest in the sport and boost the level of competition worldwide.
"Any time you make a change, human nature is, 'Why are we changing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' There's another way to look at things," Finchem said. "When things are going pretty well, that's the time to get better".
When a golfer will perform well at the Nationwide Tour, he will be earning handsome figures and will also be improving his game.
Similarly, one can also make impressive changes in their Official World Golf Ranking position.
With the end of the 50 years old Q-School, a new era has started and now the popularity will be in favour of the Nationwide Tour. Hence, there will be more sponsors for the Nationwide Tour events in a year.
Finchem has already started speaking to different companies. He wants to disclose the appealing news in an effective way and attract more sponsors that way.
The PGA season will start soon after the FedEx Cup. More interest and value can be given to the tournaments.
The spectators will also support this change, as from October onwards, all the leading tournaments will be played in pleasant weather conditions worldwide.
The Q-School tournament is only eliminated from the PGA event list. However, all the low-ranked players have to go through the qualifying stage, in order to earn the Nationwide Tour card for a year.
