PGA Tour announces its season-ending “Best of” awards
The tour officials and tourney directors across the country assembled at Palm Springs, California, during the final evening of the PGA Tour’s annual tournament meetings, for the glittering PGA Tour’s season-ending “Best of” awards ceremony.
There were a total of 11 professional awards presented to different tournaments, held during the 2012 US PGA Tour season.
The BMW Championship received the “Tournament of the Year” award, while the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation took away the “Best Promotional Idea” award and the “Best On-Site Staging” title.
The John Deere Classic and the Waste Management Phoenix Open shared the “Most Engaged Community” accolade.
The FedEx St. Jude Classic and the Wyndham Championship received the “Best Charity Integration” and the “Best Advertising Campaign” awards, respectively.
The other two awards, the “Best Special Event” and the “Best Social Media Activation”, were taken by the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance and the Deutsche Bank Championship, respectively.
In the meantime, the Travelers Championship was the only event that received three of the top sporting accolades for 2012.
The Travelers Championship, played at the magnificent TPC River Highlands, was named as the “Most Fan Friendly Event,” “Best Use of Players” and “Best Title Sponsor Integration”.
Last year, the tournament organisers provided state-of-the-art facilities to the visitors, by adding kid’s zone, concert area and by staging different contests.
In addition to that, the officials also created eights events, featuring a number of top-notch players, sponsors and volunteers.
Travelers Championship Tournament Director, Nathan Grube, expressed his pleasure after receiving the awards on Monday.
He credited the title sponsor, Travelers, behind tournament’s success and development in the past few years.
“We are so fortunate to have Travelers as our title sponsor since 2007. Their commitment to making the tournament better each year has made the difference in the popularity of our event,” Grube said in a statement about his event’s hat trick.
“We are thrilled to receive recognition in these categories, because it represents how much this tournament means to our title sponsor and the community that supports the Travelers Championship every year,” added the proud director.
