PGE Skra BELCHATOW sweeps ACH Volley LJUBLJANA in Pool F of CEV
A Pool F CEV Volleyball Champions League match was played between the men’s ACH Volley LJUBLJANA squad of Slovenia and the Polish PGE Skra BELCHATOW team on 20th December in the Slovenian city of Ljubljana.
The Polish squad started off the match at the top of the pool and ended it on the same note as Poland was able to secure another victory, extending its winning streak to four consecutive matches.
The match between the two sides did not take long to reach its close as the Polish squad was able to assert itself after making a clean sweep on their opponents. However, the home team did not go down without putting up a good fight as a result of which
the first set of the match was long and competitive. The tiring first set made it hard for the Slovenians to come out strong in the second set which was secured by the Polish with relative comfort. The third set also went close but the Polish prevailed in
sealing the deal on the match at the following final set scores: 34-32, 25-18 and 25-21.
The coach of the Slovenian team, Igor Kolakovic, expressed himself in the following words after the match had come to its close, “The first set was very tough for both sides and it was evident that the side taking it home would have turned into the pace-setter
for set 2.”
On the other hand, the coach of the winning team, Jacek Nawrocki, shared his jubilation by making the following statements, “The first set was crucial and its outcome did set the tone for the remainder of the game. This is pretty common in Volleyball.”
The first set of the match saw both the teams stay neck to neck with each other all through the frame. However, the home team was able to take the lead initially but the Polish did not let their opponents get away with the advantage and managed to secure
the lead for themselves. After an elongated to and fro competition, the Polish team proved to be the better of the two as they bagged the frame at 34-32.
The second set saw the Polish come out strong and take the lead at 10-9. After this point however, the home team could not managed to keep the score close and the Polish were able to increase the gap. It was only a matter of time for the Polish to finish
the frame on their terms at 25-18.
The Polish started the third set well as they were flying high because of the momentum generated by winning the previous frame. The Polish were able to keep the pace of the frame fast and took it at 25-21.
