what is the average pH of tap water. please help. it is for my frogs.

  1. Most water is 7, but if you get it from outside, it will probably be acidic. Tap or drinking water is about 7.


  2. You'd be surprised. The average may be 7.0 but..........

    It can go below 6 and as high as 9. Check with your local water authority or borrow a pH meter. You can probably get pH paper at your local pet fish store. Just don't assume its 7.0, even though it may be.

  3. The pH of water is 7, or neutral.

  4. A lot depends on where you live- the water source (deep well, surface water) and the rock formations.  Typically most well water in the NE is between 7.2 and 7.8.  There is usually some alkalinity in the water which buffers and raises the pH somewhat above the neutral point (7.0).
