  1. Differences in pH, well I can't get very specific, so I would suggest you use your textbook. But in the stomach, high pH levels help to break down the materials in your stomach. After that, the pH can not be as high, because you tissue is not protected by a mucus layer. After that, pH will probably deal more with enzymes. With a certain pH required to either prevent the enzyme from breaking down, or for optimizing its efficiency.


  2. In your stomach the pH level is LOW (low is very acidic) and the pH level increases as you travel through the digestive tract.

    Aside from the need to break the food we eat into smaller chemical pieces (i.e. break proteins down into amino acids and carbohydrates into monosaccharides), some compounds in our food are only soluble in the bloodstream when in an environment of certain pH value.

    pH is a measure of the amount of hydrogen ions (positive ions) in the area, and many molecules react with hydrogen ions and become positively charged or negatively charged.

    Charged molecules are absorbed differently than uncharged molecules, so the pH of the area will have an effect on the uptake of certain minerals, vitamins etc in different parts of the body.

  3. Human body is a divine creation.  This is designed to the food needs of an individual.  Different food materials require different pH levels to get digested.  This mechanism necessitates differential pH levels in different parts of the body.
