Not to long ago, I started to get into paranormal stuff. It's still cool and I'm still interested, but I'm scared that a ghost is going to hurt me. I can sense paranormal activity, but I dont know the real feeling of a sense. How can I stop the phobia, but still be interested?

  1. What you're sensing is probably your own fear, brought on by the power of suggestion. There is no reason to be afraid of ghosts, primarily for the reason that they have never been demonstrated to exist! And if ghosts did exist, how would they be able to hurt you if they are not physical beings? Sure, you may hear scary ghost stories of how someone was supposedly harassed or even punched, thrown or otherwise assaulted by a ghost, but realize that these are just stories without any evidence at all to back them up. On the internet it is very easy to spin yarns without consequence, and that is exactly what happens, especially with ghost stories.

So relax and enjoy ghost hunting. There is nothing to be afraid of except tripping over something in the dark!

  2. I am glad you find the field interesting, and hope you can approach it from an analytical and scientific approach.

First of all, there are very few ways to get hurt in paranormal research.

You should also get into God, and pray. Especially if you are going into ghost hunts with a sense of fear. God will protect you from evil.

The down side of the Christian approach is that you will eliminate the possibility that ghosts are earthbound spirits of dead humans. This seems to be a myth that ghost hunters and mediums like to exploit and most people find fun.

The upside is you will find that a lot of the unexplained phenomena are part of an invisible war that has been going on for a long time over the planet earth. The other upside is that you will have the protection you need, should you get into any real sticky situations.

  3. omg. that exact thing happened to me when i was 9. i LOVED paranormal sci fi type things but i was afraid all the time of poltergeists. it will wear off and you won't be as interested. what really helped me get over it was to be on a camping trip with my family. it was really safe to be in the dark there and if there were a ghost (if they existed) everyone would know about it. otherwise i don't really have a suggestion.

  4. Well I must say that I have been in your shoes.

The first and most important thing that you must realize is that a spirit will never harm you. Now a demonic entity will but those cases are few and far between. The most important thing is that if you are going on an "investigation" you should say a prayer for protection, ask to basically be protected while you are on the "investigation". You can also use a good luck charm or an amulet or a talisman to help. Most importantly remember that fear can paralyze you, but fear can be overcome.

Here is a short list of Amulets, talismans, and plain old good luck charms:

Some people carry something special to make you feel safe, strong, or it's to bring you luck. If you do you're part it's part of a psychic tradition that is as old as humanity itself.

Amulets have been said to repel danger, but not necessarily attract luck.

Talismans are said to bring you good fortune.

Good Luck charms can be any item you feel that brings you luck.

  5. Ghosts do not hurt people. Not every ghost can iteract with humans. Demonds on the other hand will target a person and attack. Don't give them power to draw to. Meaning don't fear them.

  6. Hello kat,

I have read your answer from a previous question so i am aware you have already witnessed the paranormal, which is good. One thing to keep in mind is that spirits don't normally go around and just start finding people to pound. You can provoke them into hurting you but it takes a lot. Another thing is that the paranormal as you know it is real and just because others can't see them or don't want to see them does not mean it isn't real. Yopu already have seen them so you do not need any proof. Now to get on with the main question at hand. Fear is a strong emotion and some spirits will feed off of it. Already your doing something that faces this fear and that is out looking for answers. You can take the strong desire of your hunting and looking for answers to fight the feeling of fear. I have never heard of anyone being hurt so bad from a spirit that they could not get up and walk away, for the most part they make people hurt themselves by running away scared. True there are many things that can spook you and your first thought would be paranormal but you will find this is not the case for the most part. try to train yourself that there is a good normal explaination for what you may see or hear. You will find a great feeling in finding out that most things are not paranormal in nature and the next time your out your more educated. And that will help you understand easier each time what you may have heard or seen. One important tip is to never run away scared just calmly walk out the same direction you came.

  7. Spectrophobia, Phasmophobia, Fear of Specters, and Fear of Ghosts being the most common:  An abnormal and persistent fear of ghosts. Sufferers of this fear experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational. They may fear going into woods, empty houses or dark places and may react with alarm at strange or unexplained noises.Like all fears and phobias, ghost phobia is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism,so all you have to do is regain control of your emotions ,breaking negative stimulus links and building positive acceptance

new ones is one good way to overcome this phobia.

  8. i think the best way to relieve yourself of any fear is to embrace it, for example to relieve a fear of heights a person should skydive or something like that. So you push yourself past a certain point.

  9. Don't watch the X-files, that song will give you night-mares.

To answer your question, "ghosts" are either halucinations, or demons. If the ghost you see is in fact a demon, then you better pray really hard. However if the ghost is a halucination, then stop smoking weed. Or get mental assistance.

  10. Don't take it serious! If you act scaried you'll get hooked. They feed on people being scaried, they try to dominate them.
