The frequency of the lowest standing wave mode on a 1.0-m-long string is 20 hZ. What is the wave speed on the string?

  1. Speed = frequency * wavelength

    Frequency = 20 hz

    Since the wave is standing, therefore wavelength = 2 * length of string = 2 m

    So, speed = 20 * 2 = 40 m/s
