  1. To begin, you don't really need maths, you just need to visualize some concepts in your head, but as soon as you enter university, you'll have to formulate those concepts with maths. Quantum mechanics does have the interesting and mysterious side of it, like entanglement, quantum tunneling etc, but to explain these, the maths involved is horrendous.

Don't take physics in uni if you don't like maths, you will regret it believe me.

  2. Layman's terms can get the ideas across. Maths can overcomplicate the journey. In the end it's all about simplicity. You can still know how things work without all the number crunching.

I've done it for a number of years. The equations can come to ease through practice.

  3. A HUGE part of Physics is math. They kind of go hand-in-hand. To get a full understanding, you not only need to know algebra, but have a solid understand of geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.

However, with technology of today, you may be able to keep your interest if you can find software or calculator that will do the math for you.

Physics if very math orientated so if you really dislike math, I would suggest brushing up your math skills or finding a new interest.

  4. I used to hate math, but my interest in physics changed that.

Dive into physics.  It's can be fascinating, and your math interest and skills will be enhanced along with it.

I eventually became a math nutcase.  Loved math once I got the hang of it.

So hang in there.  Math is necessary for physics, but anybody can learn math.

  5. physics is a combination of math fixed in with science
