So I will install an AC onto my window, I'm not sure how it will work. I have a screen and the door opens outwards. Is there something I can do to this kind of window?

  1. I don't think a window AC unit will work with this window....not with out some modifications to the window anyway.

First of all, the screen will have to be completely removed as the back half of the AC unit must stick outside for the release of hot air.

Second the area surrounding a window unit must be completely closed off to prevent the hot outside air from getting into the room. If your unit is the width of the open window, you would have to close off the area above the unit with something like plywood.

Thirdly, you would need to install some sort of brace or self to support the unit since there isn't anything else to hold it in place.

    .

Me? I would get one of those "free standing" room AC units that do not have to be placed in a window.
