I was just wondering about being a pilot.

I heard there is a hight requiremnt, if so how tall do you have to be?

How long does it take you to become a pilot and how much money?

How much money do you make if you are flying commercial or how much do you make if you are flyin miltary.

What would you recomend being a pilot in, military or commercial?

If anyone answered my question about being afrain of takeoffs and landing I will get over my fear

  1. I survived flight training years ago. All you have to do is practice. The more take offs and landings you do the more secure you feel. The fear is of the "what if" factor. Once you learn that at a certain speed the plane will fly and at a certain speed the plane will descend the rest is easy to pick up.

As far as height and weight restrictions I know of none in the general aviation area. Nine year olds fly planes. 85 year old ladies fly planes. You just have to have a current Airman's Certificate and the health endorsement.

However the military has a lot of restrictions on height and weight for their pilot training.

My recommendation is to go to your local general aviation airport and sign up for a familiarization flight. Ask lots of questions about the cost and how long it takes. The general rule is a minimum of forty hours of instruction and a written test. That equates to about $6,000.00 in today's economy.

The military is the best place to learn to fly jets, helicopters and multi engine planes. The cost to train is astronomical in the civilian world.

As far as what you do with your training is up to you. Commercial Pilots start at pretty meager salaries until they build up ratings and flight time. The Military pays well, but chooses only the best candidates.
