PING Junior Solheim Cup arrives in 2011
Girls' British Open Amateur Championship will take place at Gullane Golf Club, Scotland, starting from August 8th stretching all the way to 12th of august, 2011.
Like a veteran making his way into the Ryder Cup, similarly, amateurs require a selection procedure for the PING Junior Solheim Cup as well. The selection is divided into two parts; automatic selection and captain’s pick. The
Girls' British Open Amateur Championship is the last phase of the seven events that lead Europe's top girl golfers into European team through automatic selection. After making their way into the team, they prepare themselves to face the Americans at the
2011 PING Junior Solheim Cup. The event will take place at Knights brook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort in Ireland, on September 20-21, 2011.
The selection procedure is based on seven events deciding the contention of the players. The first event of the series will be the Spanish International Ladies' Amateur Championship which will be staged at Sherry Golf Jerez from March
2nd to March 6th. The next event will start on April 9th -10th at Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort; Irish Under-18 Girls' Championship. The third event will be the French International Lady Junior Championship

Ladies' Team Championship at GC Murhof, in Austria and it will be stage between the dates of July 5-9.The penultimate event of the season will be the European Individual Championship at Noordwijkse, from July 20th to 23th and the final seal of the
series will take place at Gullane the Girls' British Open Amateur Championship at Gullane Golf Club.
Seven winners will make their way into the European team through automatic selection and the rest five will be selected on the basis of captain’s preference. Like Ryder Cup, the team of twelve players will compete with the Americans
for the trophy. Ironically the current title is with the Americans which they had won at Aurora Golf Club, Illinois last year.
There is a criterion for the contenders: all the players should fall into the age bracket of 12-18 and should not have reached their 18th birthday by January 1, 2011. Moreover, they should be amateurs and should be European citizens.
Regarding its background, the PING Junior Solheim Cup is always staged after the Solheim Cup and next season it is due at Killeen Castle from September 23-25, 2011. PING is the official sponsor, whereas, the Irish Ladies Golf Union
is the official host of the event.
For the very first time the Junior Solheim Cup took place in 2002 when the Americans defeated this side of Atlantic at Oak Ridge, Minnesota. Europe, won the trophy back in 2003 at Bokskogens GK, Sweden. 2005 took the trophy back
to the Americans and they retained it in 2006. However, 2007 was yet another year for the Europeans, whereas, in 2009 the trophy belonged to the other side of the Atlantic.
The Solheim family was the organizer of the event and according to John A. Solheim, "Establishing the PING Junior Solheim Cup was a natural outgrowth of The Solheim Cup. Seeing players like Anna Nordqvist, Melissa Reid, Marianne
Skarpnord, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Brittany Lincicome and Brittany Lang compete in the PING Junior Solheim Cup and then being able to follow their careers on the LPGA Tour and the LET has been extremely gratifying.”
Everyone has something to do in golf; therefore, 2011 PING Junior Solheim Cup will follow the Solheim Cup so that the amateurs get their fair share in the game. The event will rotate around two teams and both the teams will be
make sure that they give each other a head banging battle.
