  1. I thought Pit Bulls were a banned breed...

  2. no. they have to have papers.. there are some competitions that will let you participate without papers, they are usually not official competitions, you'll have to find events, join bully domain they will tell you about events that will let you  join in on.

what state are you in and ill try to look some up for you.

  3. With the AKC there is the ILP (but I think they changed the name to PAL or something).

Take a pic of your dog, and if it looks purebred it's given an ILP/PAL number you can use to enter Performance/companion events only, and the dog MUST be spayed/neutered.

You fill out a form and take pics of your dog stacked, side, front, and rear, and send it in. With that number they can be entered in Junior Showmanship, Obedience, agility etc. But only if you have a purebred dog of a breed accepted in the AKC.

  4. you can do fun shows, but that is it.

make sure your dog is well behaved though, if your dog cuts up, you both will be asked to leave the ring, and the whole show.

  5. I know that the AKC will visually register a dog if the dog is spayed/neutered.  SO, if the dog is fixed, you can contact them about getting the dog visually identified as a purebred pit bull so you can be in competitions.

I had a border collie/aussie mix who looked 100% Aussie.  AKC registered her as purebred Aussie for agility competitions.  And then there were non-purebred open agility that didn't care.

Edit:  Nope they're not.  My agility coach's dog was registered Staffordshire in one and American Pit Bull in the other.  Visual ID tends to be a little more lenient in following standards.

  6. There are some organizations, that let ANY dog compete regardless of breed or purebred status, or legit papers.

If you plan on competing with UKC (UKC is the only registry that registers pitbulls) then you'll have to be registered.
