i just moved into a townhome that is in a gated community and i love it. I have 3 kids ages 12, 8 and 6. we are animal lovers. BUT ihave a neighbor who has a pitbull. He is probably around 2 and have alot of energy he is STRONG. i have only been there a week and already the dog has jumped on my visitor and been in my garage twice. they let him wonder infront of their garage WITHOUT A LEASH. he seems friendly but why do i even need to make that determination...i have a dog but I WOULD NOT LET HER ALL UP IN OTHER PEOPLE's BUSINESS and if she went there id be sorry and embarrassed. its like where are these people raised? what planet do they come from where they think everyone wants to deal with thir dog???i do not think it is my reposnsibility to be monitoring their dog IN MY GARAGE or even out of it. i dont know the temperment of this dog. i shouldnt have to. i am annoyed. the one time it was in my garage his owner was at her car i asked her IS THIS YOUR DOG an she said yea and just called it and it went to her. she never said O IM SORRY or hi im your neighbor nothing so i was like i see how this is gonna be. i just DO NOT want to deal with their pit, i do not know how to approach the situation and i need some advise...

  1. I don't blame you one bit for being annoyed at the neighbor being so inconsiderate, if they are that lazy and don't want to take the time to walk their dog, i would suggest to them nicely, that first of all you find it a nuisance that their dog keeps running loose and on and  around your property and that maybe they could invest in a wireless underground fencing system to keep their dog from running around loose. If the nice approach doesn't work let them know under your terms that if this continues, you will have no other course of action to call the animal control ( the local dog warden) and they can be fined, I'm sure your town has an animal control ordinance law in place, I would call them too if it does not stop. Most townships do have leash laws, our hound got loose a couple of times,I was ever so embarrassed , and then found a way to contain her as not to cause an accident on the road and not to have her bother our neighbor's, good luck.

  2. That seems to happen alot.... Call animal control .

  3. Go to the management of the property and tell them the problem. It is better if they are reprimanded from management than it would be for you to talk to them. It sounds like they are the kind of people that would try to make trouble for you if you take matters into your own hands. It is illegal to let dogs run freely, and the management can handle this on a legal basis.

  4. You need to let her know that you are bothered by her dog coming up unannounced.....and if she can please keep her dog on a leash during the time he is outside or off your property.....the fact that she didn't apologize goes to show that since the dog is obviously friendly she sees nothing wrong with his unwanted presence at your house....so go over and do a hi I am your neighbor who just moved in and although I like pets I really don't feel comfortable with your dog coming in my garage/yard.....and if they can please control his where abouts while he is outside and you will also provide them the same courtesy with your dog....and leave it at that.

  5. Maybe they came from planet UTAH. Utah people are like that. lol. anyways, just tell them how you feel and if they don't take care of it call the police, It's obviously a problem, maybe call animal control. But please don't let the dog get put down, he may get ran over by a car one of these days anyway... Maybe just try and go up to the owner and say "Hi, excuse me, I'm______ and your dog has been getting into my yard and garbage and garage and I would really appreciate it if you kept him on a leash or in a fence or inside the house." if they don't do anything about it then say "Hi, I've told you once before but now I'm just getting to the point short and simple ok? Keep your dog out of my property, I have the authority to call the police and animal control if you don't. It's my property not your's or your dog's so please keep him off, because for where i have power to gain I will."

    Hope I helped!

  6. I would point blank tell her to keep her dog on her own property. If the problem continues, then talke it up to the people you rented from and let them know what's going on. Very rude, indeed.

  7. Talk to the neighbor and tell her your concerns.  Tell her that the dog could be in danger of being hit by a car or stolen/lost.  If she gives a c**p about the dog, she'll stop it.  If not, call the animal control and report it.

  8. call animal control

  9. Since you are an animal lover, maybe you should try to get to know the dog? It seems friendly you say, and apparently it is pretty trained since the owner calls it and it comes back to her.

But if you are scared of Pit Bulls maybe you need to let your new neighbor know about it, so that she is aware of this.

Most likely the dog is very friendly and likes kids. if not I don't think she would let it run around the house without a leash.

Its funny how people dont mind smaller dogs to run around, but get irritated because its a pit...

But yea, using a leash is the law, so you can of course let your neighbor know. But I don't think this would be a great start of your future friendship with your neighbor...

    But well, good luck!

  10. I had a Pit bull from a puppy, but when he reached adulthood he was very protective of the family. He was wonderful with my son, and the other dog we had. If anyone else came around he was friendly as well.

But if he sensed someone was a threat or another animal came around he was very violent and dangerous trying to protect the family.

Because of the liability I had to give him away to someone how could better care for him.

That dog could easily see you or your kids as a threat. Stay away from this dog. Pits are great family dogs, but they need to be contained from other animals and people from my experience.

I don't think it fair to ban them, but I also don't think it fair when people get them and do not properly care and understand them.

  11. Notre Dame.. you dont know what you are talking about Pit Bulls are never known to "attack"...they were bred to never be aggressive towards humans, only other animals. a Rott is more "prone" to bite then a Pit seeing how they were bred for guard.. either way to the question.. go talk to them tell them they need to keep their dog on a leash or properly contained or you will call animal control. theres no sense in letting your dog roam free like that and be a nuisance to other people. I have Pit Bulls and would never let them be outside without a leash or behind a fence , not because i think my dogs would bite or anything its just common sense.

  12. The neighbor is the problem not the dog.Do you have leash laws? A pit bull (or any dog) must be kept under control.Talk to them about your concerns. If they give you any problems have your lawyer talk to them.He won't cost as much before a serious problem as after.

  13. That is soo rude, even if the dogs nice when someone is walking their pet around that neighborhood they may start to fight or somthing..  not safe, but also isnt the dogs falt its the owner...

is their a commernity manager or somthing you can anonymously complain to?

or maybe leave a friendly note stating politly your complaints

    DONT CALL ANIMAL CONTROL.

they put the pets "to sleep" after just days.

If it gets to that point, call a "no kill" local shelter..

  14. first tell her that you have children and would appreciate it if she kept her dog away from your townhouse. if she doesn't listen, send her a certified letter or talk to your HOA about it. if all else fails, get animal control.

i have 2 pit bulls too, but i keep them on my property AT ALL TIMES

  15. maybe try introducing yourself to your neighbours, i mean you have to live next door to them so you might aswell. also my dog is half pitbull, they are very strong and always full of energy and can get a little annoying at times, espesh the younger ones, i suggest you talk to the owner about putting a fence up maybe, thats the best solution to your problem, but as the pitbull get in there older years they tend to calm down abit. just talk to your neighbour.

  16. So now you are going around talking about me? I am just playing pits are prone to attacking I have a 8 month old rottie and alot of people are scared so pits are totally different so just protect yourself.
