  1. Estimate means you can round to make it easier to find your answer.

It's much easier to divide by 10 than by 9.8.

    $2.75 ÷ 10 = $0.275 or 28¢ per ounce, approximately

  2. cost per ounce is total cost divided by total ounces, or $2.75/9.8 oz

If you want to estimate it, you could round the number ounces up to 10, so you could just move the decimal point over one space in the $$. I think a good estimate would be 27.5 cents per ounce.

(The actual cost per ounce is 28.06 cents)

  3. if you have 9.8 ounces that costs 2.75 and you want to find out the unit cost per ounce you divide the price 2.75 by 9.8 to find out that its approx .28 an ounce.

Check your work and you multiply .28 by 9.8 and get 2.75 ..

that is if i am correct. (the decimal was more like .2806 or something just so you know)
