I'm 17 yrs. old and I plan on buying my own car. Things I want: power windows, power lockers, good gas mileage, cute, safe, insurance rate that isn't too high since I will have to pay it myself too. I have been looking on carmax.com but the cars I like cost too much.

  1. honda and mitsubishi

  2. 93-97 Honda Del Sol

Best car I ever owned!! They run forever!!

    I really regret selling mine!!

    :)

  3. Good luck finding lockers in you car!  Duh!

  4. All you said about your price range is that the cars at Carmax are "too much." If I knew your price range, I could help a lot more.

Power windows and door locks are not necessary. And when a power window motor blows out, it's very expensive to replace.

"Cute" should take a back-seat (pun intended) to how it runs and drives, and how reliable it is. Nothing is going to be truly cheap to insure, since you're a beginning driver.

With such limited information to work with, I'd suggest you find a Toyota or Nissan that appeals to you.

  5. As the daughter of a used car dealer, I've had many used cars throughout my life. If you're looking for something that you can drive for a very long time, I recommend a Volkswagen. I drove a 2001 Beetle TDI (Turbo Diesel) for 2 years, and it was by far the most cost-efficient and reliable car I've driven. If you can drive stick, a manual Bug Turbo Diesel would get better gas mileage than just about anything else you could drive. Besides that, the most reliable used cars you can buy are usually Toyota, Honda, Volvo, Saab, Mercedes, and Lexus. Toyota and Lexus are sister companies, so the quality you expect from Lexus is available in the Toyota for a lower price. A good website to check out is www.autotrader.com. Lots of used car dealers post their inventory on that website. You can look at photos and all the features the car has without going to the dealership.

    Good luck!!!

  6. 2000 Honda Civic Lx .The LX trim (sedan only) added the power windows and locks and cruise control

  12. I have a 04 Dodge Stratus SXT - I havent had a problem with it and Ive had it 3 years (bought it with 20k miles on it). Its comfortable, sporty, good on gas, and reliable. Came with a 4 disc cd changer, power everything, and I've been very happy. The only down to it is that it doesnt hold value, so pay cash, dont finance them.

  13. My first car was a 98 kia sportage.  I got it pretty reasonable.  I still drive it and I've had it for a year and a half.  It looks like a truck but its a 4 cylinder so its good on gas. It has power windows and locks and its really roomy.  If you can find one for sale in your area, I would definitely check it out.

  14. It's hard to tell you b/c I don't know your range and what you think is cute....as for ideas Honda is VERY relable! The smaller ones would be great on gas. Chevy's are also good and Sabbs are great too. Sorry I can't help you more I would need more info. I could go on and on about cars all day! Also, if you can, don't get your own insurance plan. I'm assuming since you want a cute car ur a female. But, when I was in high school I was on my moms plan and paid next to nothing now I'm on my own and insurance is almost as much as my car payment for my new car. If you can't...stay away from Geico! They are horrible I hate them and can't wait to get away from them!  Good Luck...and more ?s w/details let me know i could help u

  15. 98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

  16. You have been quiet daft with your request... A price range would help. I do not see what power windows and (Power locker i'm assuming are central locking/keyless entry things) has an attraction, because older cars will have this as a luxury option, along with leather ect and bump the price significantly.

Australian wise, a holden or ford early 90's 6 cylinder are great. Reasons are that you ARE going to have a bingle, and you'll need it repaired. There are parts galore at the local wreckers. Try a ford festiva round the 93-95 mark, get around $3K Aussie.

  17. Classic car, like an old muscle car. They look cool and aren't that expensive.
