so, for tryouts, we have 2 net across from eachother, that are 15 feet away from where i will stand for serving. i can hit 15,sometimes 20 feet now.I work super hard!about 4 hours a day. i started 2 weeks ago. im also nervous about tryouts. some girls from high school help out, and for example(im 5'6) so im taller than a lot of the other girls, and when im supposed to set it, they throw it at my chest, and expect me to set it, so i obviously attempt to show effort, cause theirs judges walking around watching.and then the girls and the judgges told me i was doing it wrong? help!i need motivation too.

  1. I aggre with Katie

  2. Ok, well keep practicing. Don't let them get you down enough so you stop putting effort into it.

If they are throwing the ball at your chest and want you to set, tell them to throw higher, like above your head so you can actually set it. Or just step back and pass (bump) it to them. Or squat down and get under it to set it to them.

At tryouts relax and try to think that your at your house serving against a wall where no one is watching. And believe me the coaches/judges don't show that they are watching you extra carefully. They watch everyone the same amount and make marks on their papers. If you are good then they know that and are making a note of it.

  3. ask! always you are obviously a very good player and probably a great hitter for your height ask the girls to throw it at your forehead so if you were to move your hands it would hit you in the face... if not bump it instead of setting it

  4. If the volleyball is thrown at your chest, you should take a step back and bump it, but if they REALLY want you to set it, bend your knees and get right under it, setting it almost straight up.

    You can do it!

  5. just try and relax the judges just want to see that your trying and keep up the hard work
