PLEASE HELP ASAP. BUNNY QUESTION! Are my bunnies FIGHTING?

PLEASE HELP! ):

I have two baby bunnies, & I've had them for almost 4 months.

They are two girls, sisters, and they get along very well.

A few weeks ago I noticed one of my bunnies had a tiny patch of fur missing on her side. (She just got it, believe me she did not have it before) And since it was VERY VERY hot in my area i just thought maybe she was trying to shed...

& I just came back home from being gone for about 5 hours and I noticed the same bunny now has two BIG patches on her sides and a tiny tiny cut on her ear!

They ran out of food and water so I immediately replenished them... But are they really fighting and not getting along now? Or were they just hungry and thirsty? I've NEVER seen them fight! I'm scared something horrible will happen...

Please.. if you have any suggestions or input it would be extremely appreciated.

  1. uhh mabe they arnt sister...we thought our hampsters were brothers and...we had baby hampsters as for the paches idk

  2. Yep they're fighting.  If you got them at about 8 weeks (typical age for baby rabbits), they're now about 6 months old, they've hit puberty and they will start to fight, often badly.  Separate them for now, have them both spayed, wait two months, then reintroduce using the tips here: http://www.rabbit.org/behavior/index.htm...  This is typical for an unaltered same-s*x pair when they reach maturity and if you allow it to continue, one can seriously injure or kill the other.

  3. Bunnies will do that as a dominance thing. I have two rabbits together (spayed doe, neutered buck) and they always pull hair out of one another. What will help A LOT is to get a very big cage. That cured the fighting with mine. It's all the hormones and such. Spaying doesn't always help with the fighting, because there's still hormones sometimes. Hope this helps.

  4. I don't know about it but I think mabey they are.try to put a hidden camera out?

  5. this is common.  they will have to be spayed.  people often think that siblings can live together forever, but this is not the case.  once puberty hits, they will fight.  this will continue until they are spayed.  separate them now.  take teh hurt bunny to the vet so they can treat the ear, and schedule the appointment ASAP.
