My sixteen year old daughter had gotten a job at banana republic, and she worked there for about a month. Then we had to move, but there were still paychecks that had not come in. Before leaving, my daughter gave them her new address to mail the paychecks. After not receiving the paychecks at about two weeks from that, my daughter called the manager and asked about the pay checks. They said it was accidentally left at the office, and they will mail it out tonight. They even asked for her address again so they put it on the envelope. My daughter also asked when the paychecks would arrive, and they said friday, no later than monday. It has now been 10 days later, and we still have not received any paychecks. What should we do?

  1. Call them one more time and ask them to resolve it or you will be calling the corporate office.

  2. You could place a report in the un-employment office in your city/state

  3. Contact your former state's Dept. of Labor Office immediately to file a complaint.  Remember to keep all correspondence with your daughter's former employer in writing via certified mail.  No more phone calling.

  4. Call them again and make sure you document:

    Who you talked to

Date and time when you talked to the person

    What the person said

When the person said the checks would be mailed and when you should receive it

If you do not get the checks on the date that they say (give one additional day, no more)

Call them, maybe twice in a day and demand to know where her money is.

Talk to the supervisor of the person you talked to.

If they make promises, demand that they mail your daughter's check with a receipt or by FedEx.

Keep going up the line. And document every person you speak to.

You may have to put your complaint into writing.

I think, though, if you keep at them, you'll get your money sooner.

    Hang in there-

  5. I would be patient for a few more days, just to be sure.  Then try calling again.  If they still dont send it out, you should probably go into her workplace yourself and deal with it there.  Your daughter could consider calling herself or emailing, they might be more likely to send it if they speak with her.

  6. Have your attorney friend send a certified request for immediate consideration before you pursue further legal action!

  7. they are just being jerks and not giving u the money, they would have givin it to you by now, but they didnt. you should call them again explain that they are being un-re-spons-able and they you should have gotten it by now but they didnt! and they you will not stop untill you gte that pay check, tht you [your daughter] worked for! and go to their web sight and send a strongly worded letter saying the same thing but more. and if they still dont send it, or you dont get it, then take it too extreem [no cussign, bad lang. calling them names, but be very strong word-ed, ect.

  8. Call the manager and remind him that, by law, they are supposed to disburse all owed pay to a terminated employee (fired or who quits) within 72 hours of their last day on the job. Tell him that you really don't want to have to file a complaint with the state labor board. So, can he please have those checks mailed out and in her hands immediately.

  9. Call them again.

  10. Continue to call... the old phase - squeaky wheel gets the grease.  Also you can contact the labor board and tell the employer you are contacting the labor board if it is not received within X # of days.  The law states that if a person is fired, the paycheck must be given at the time of dismissal but if the person quits, then the paycheck is due on the regular pay date.  You may want to contact the corporate office if the manager is not any help in getting the check to you.

  11. wait a couple more days then if the checks don't come in call them again. if the still don't take legal action.

  12. call again and if that doesnt work i guess you'll have to go back 2 get the paychecks..

    good luck!

  13. Call the magager again. Maybe it was lost in the mail. If she said she sent it, ask her to cancel it and cut you a new one.
