My husband and I were away on vacation the entire month. We just came back today, and saw in the mail that it i said my husband is called for jury duty. It said the jury duty was for august 4th, and today is already august 24th, which means we missed the jury duty. What should we do? We did not get any phone call or another letter saying that we missed the jury duty. So what should we do?

thanks for your help!

  1. Call them and tell them that you had been away and just now returned. They should have given a number to call.

  2. Not to worry, the jury pool was filled or delayed.

  3. Just call the clerk's office at the courthouse and tell them you were on vacation.  Not a big deal, they know real people have lives.  I had to do that - they were very understanding.

  4. RUN FOR THE BORDER~!!!

(and have yourself a Taco Bell)~!

  5. About half the people who are summoned don''t show up.  Every time I've gone, they call far more people than are needed and most of those who get into a jury panel do not get selected.  I've gone several times, but only served once.  I've failed to go sometimes when it was inconvenient and was never punished for my failure to appear.

  6. From a lawyer.  Don't sweat it.  You've got a great excuse that you will probably never get a chance to use.  A little known secret is that nothing is usually done when people miss jury duty.  They figure a certain percentage are like yourself and it's more trouble to try to deal with people who don't show up than it is to send out more notices.  Don't call anyone or do anything.  Let it go.

  7. Do nothing.  If in the future he gets mail about it, simply explain you did not receive notice and were on vacation.
