OK, I'm a sophomore and i'm on academy probation, because I wasn't mature enough to be here my first three semesters. This semester, I have four classes: Calculus:4 credit hours -Comp and lit 1: 3 credit hours, -World Lit 2: 3 credit hours -Basic Graphics: 3 hours. I know that I'm going to finish the semester up with at least a "B" in Comp and Lit 1 and World Lit 2 and Basic Graphic...but I may end up having a "A" Basic Graphics and World Lit 2. But I know that I failed Calculus. The professor failed alot of people and he didn't help us out alot. I plan on attending summer school, if I go to summer school, do you think i will get kicked out the university and wont be able to come back next semester?

  1. If you pass everything but the Calculus, you should be ok. I would speak to someone in guidance.  Explain just as you did here. Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep it up.

  2. When you are on academic probation it usually means that you have to pass at least 3/4 of the classes/credits you are taking that semester.  Basically to stay in the univeristy without having to do an appeal then you need to pass at least 9 to 10 of the credits you are enrolled in this semester.  So if all you are failing is the Calculus class you should be fine.

I have been on academic probation before taking 13 credits which is what you stated you are taking this semester.  I verified with the counselors at the college I am in and I was told that as long as I passed with a C of better in 9 of the 13 credits I would be taken off academic probation and everything would be fine.

All that being said, different colleges and university may have different rules on it.  You need to double check with your school counselors.
