This guy is a real character. He's a drug addict for one. He had a good job in Michigan which he got fired for probably being a jerk because of his addiction. Now he's got a job in Indiana which is a payroll job (not under the table cash) and he is STILL collecting unemployment for the Michigan job which is thousands of dollars. I want to report him but who do I talk to? And how do I make sure that they don't let him know that it was me that reported him? Won't they find out anyways eventually because of his social security or when he does his taxes (if he does)? He did have to do a W-2 for this new job. Should I call his old employer in Michigan? I know a lot of people go to jail for de-frauding the government, right??? That's what it is, right? What kind of time can they get? He needs a few months to dry out and get taught a lesson that he can't get away with everything.

  1. the crime is defrauding the government, and if you go to a local police department and ask to report the crime or speak to a detective they will be able to help you.

  2. I used to work for a call center.  I worked under a contract for the U.S. Department of Labor and I got questions like yours all the time.  I would have referred you to call the unemployment office in the zip code area where he is receiving his unemployment from.  He probably won't go to jail.  They will set up a phone interview and appeal his unemployment.  If he is found guilty, then he will have to pay back all of the unemployment he was overpaid.  If he doesn't pay it back, then it will be taken from his state income tax refund and they also have the right to garnish his wages.

  3. The different agencies use a central database. It's the same one they use to track deadbeat dads. I think they will catch him on their own.

  4. If you are as bitter in person about this guy as you are here...he's going to know it was you.  That said, you should contact the state unemployment agency and ask how you report a fraudulent claim for benefits.

  5. You have every right to take action, but why bother? First you have to know all the circumstances, and what he is doing could be much different that what you speculate. He could be receiving the last installment for a past period that he is entitled to.It seems you just want to get even for something so I would butt out.

  6. If he is working and being paid by payroll, and all his deductions are being taken out there is no problem.

In law suits the "Burden of proof lays with the accuser"

so you will be responsible for court costs etc. and if you happen to be wrong he could sue you for defamation of character. Be very care full what you accuse someone of, make sure you can prove it.

To answer your question it is called fraud.

  7. What a hater !!! what the h**l did he do to you?? lol. The government will get him, they always do. and if you're really that bitter let him keep burying himself in the hole. The govt will get their money.

  8. The crime is called welfare.  And you should report it to any member of the Libertarian party.
