  1. It depends on how long you are planning on staying there.  If you are going to be there more than a week I strongly suggest that you plan on staying in a hostel for a few days until you can find a place.  You might want to negotiate via email or phone to some of the hostels as well.  The great thing about them is that you should be able to get a monthy rate, especially if you note that you will clean up after yourself.  A great thing about this is you won't have to worry about breakfast.  Most of them provide a light breakfast.

Venice can be very expensive, I found that near the Termini it was pretty reasonable though.  If you hang out around there you will find a ton of students, they should be able to lead you to cheap housing, food, activities, etc.  Make sure that you don't sit down to eat lunch.  You will save a ton of money.  Also, find a supermarket for snacks, wine, water, etc.

Venice is actually pretty small.  The beauty of it is getting lost in the allies and meeting the locals.  They are a very interesting group of people and have a lot to say.  There are a lot of artists and musicians there.  I found in Venice it was more about the people than the sites.

  2. depemds where u go. Venice is soooo cool. umm go to a travel site and they will tell u how much stuff is. lots of sites to see.

  3. Hi I'm from Venice, usually if you want to stay for a long time you should take an appartment in Mestre, right in the other side of the bridge...al buses are connecting the island with the main land very easly, and the rent would be much much cheaper...for food I suggest you to void all touristic places..try to look for the small places called "enoteca" and have a couple of tramezzini for lunch with a glass of coke..$10 euros

This is what I was spending when I was going to the university....Of course don't go buy food close to s.mark's square...closer to it you are and more expensive the bill will be..it's a fact....

There are really nice hotel in Mestre, so if I was you I would book a room there and I would take the bus to go to venice every day...It's not gonna be a big deal trust me..

I was doing it every day for 5 years to go to school..

  4. If you are staying in a hotel then breakfast is normally included. Lunch & breakfast can run you around 30 to 40 bucks (all together). I suggest you go to one of the supermarkets (Coop or BILLA) to buy cold cuts, bread and beer of wine. They even sell cooked foods. Eating like this your costs will be cut in half.

  5. You will need about $75 euros to eat well.....go to the Doges Palace, Guggenheim Museum and a gondola ride - the BEST thing to do is to walk on the crazy winding streets and get lost....also try a prosecco to drink! Oh, also St Marks.....

hotel between 125 euro and 350 euros a night

  6. It really depends what you would like to eat. For example if you drink wine the bill grows up.

But I think you need at least 60 euros a day.

You can rent every tipe of apartments from one bedroom to palazzos, if you are 3  or 4 people usually is cheaper then a good hotel.

  7. Venice is very expensive. For a can of coke at San Marco Square you'll have to shell out 6 EUR. If you intend to stay directly in the city in a hotel and eat out in restaurants expect to pay at least 150 EUR a day and person.

As for the sights to see: Venice is the sight. The highlights are the Cathedral San Marco, San Marco Square, the Rialto bridge and the islands Burano and Murano.
