I was in a car accident August 2nd and since then my ankle/shin area hurts really bad. It doesn't hurt 100% of the time but when it does it feels like it's snapped in half. Last week i got more x-rays done and the doc said it looked fine. Do you think it could be sprained? What do you suggest i do?..i've been putting ice on it every once in while, but i'm considering wrapping it....PLEASE HELP ME I'M DESPERATE... also give me any other ideas you may think...

  1. I've been in these predicaments before...a lot.

Have you gotten these x-rays done at the doctor's regular office? Because last time I went to the doctor for an injured shoulder, they could not find anything wrong with it, yet I was still in excruciating pain. The x-ray machines in doctor's offices are not very good, being told by my doctor this. He sent me to the emergency room and I got better x-rays.

Sure enough, I had a fractured shoulder. It was just a hairline, so you're fracture could be what mine was. So small, yet so much pain.

Try wrapping it and apply ice to it three times a day, and keep it elevated on a pillow. Try getting into bed and putting the leg up to watch some TV. It's a great way to rejuvenate and get some rest while you are healing.

If the doctors still don't find anything, then it is most likely just a sprain. Go along with what I said and you're healing process will be fast.

  2. Well, when I fractured my elbow, the doctors couldn't find anything with the x-rays, but did decide on it being fractured....

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that you might, emphasis on might, have a hairline fracture...

All I can say is... well... pain killers for one if the ice isn't helping, and only when it hurts... I'd also say minimum dosage... and... well, you can tell the Doctor more about what it feels like when it hurts, and point out to them exactly where it hurts and so forth....

I'm sorry, I'm really not all that good at answering questions... hope your ankle starts feeling better soon!
