  1. First question, the answer is generally hydrogen.

Second question, plants are eaten be animals through which carbon is transferred, carbon dioxide in decaying matter and waste, fossil fuels are produced.

  2. The nitrogen cycle

All life requires nitrogen-compounds, e.g., proteins and nucleic acids.

Air, which is 79% nitrogen gas (N2), is the major reservoir of nitrogen.

But most organisms cannot use nitrogen in this form.

Plants must secure their nitrogen in "fixed" form, i.e., incorporated in compounds such as:

    nitrate ions (NO3−)

    ammonia (NH3)

    urea (NH2)2CO

    products of death and decomposition.

    1.  coal and natural gas.

    2.  oil

    3.  limestone

  3. nitrogen gas   forms ammonia- ie

Some nitrogen fixing bacteria, such as Rhizobium, live in the root nodules of legumes (such as peas or beans). Here they form a mutualistic relationship with the plant, producing ammonia in exchange for carbohydrates. Nutrient-poor soils can be planted with legumes to enrich them with nitrogen. A few other plants can form such symbioses. Nowadays, a very considerable portion of nitrogen is fixated in ammonia chemical plants.

List 3 products of death and decomposition- carbon dioxide, methane and water
