I bought a rolex watch about a year ago and now I'm thinking about selling it. Just today I made a phone call to get a quote for how much a certain jewelers store could buy it for and when i gave them the model number it turned out that the model number was not for the watch and now I'm going crazy. I checked out how to tell from a real and a fake but it looks all real; the dial, sticker in the back (except the sticker which is the model number doesn't go with the watch I have), everything that I could see except I didn't check the inside of the watch. So now what do I do. How do I figure out whether it's real or not. what's the surest way?

  1. The best way that you personally can tell without opening the watch is by the second hand. Rolex watches are very high quality and their second hands glide around the face rather than making a stop-and-go/tick-tock motion. Tick-tock watches are much easier to make and are therefore more popular for counterfitting. If the second hand glides, it is probably a Rolex; if not, it definitely isn't.

  2. take it to a pawn shop - those creeps are experts at ripping people off and telling if stuff is real or not.
