  1. sounds like a medical problem as opposed to a trauma.

    probably a infection.

keep her clean, comfortable and warm.

    a humidifier may help.

    change cage daily.

  2. Hamsters can get sick from humans and vice versa. If you have a cold or have any type of contagious sickness that can be passed on easily from one human to another, avoid contact with your hamster(s). They usually have the same symptoms as humans such as fatigue, thirst, warm bodies and sneezing. If you notice that you hamster is sleeping more often, drinking quite frequently and sneezing, they might have a cold. Make sure to keep them in a warm area (not hot), with fresh water daily. These symptoms could also be due do more serious sicknesses, so you might want to consult a vet.

My hamsters have become sick a few times, and I usually just give them fresh water and lots of rest. They seem to be back to their normal selves in a couple of days. Check on them especially in the night when they're supposed to be awake. If they're still sleeping, then they're most probably sick.

Another way a hamster can catch a cold is if their cage is in a cold area. As obvious as this may seem, many people make this mistake. Keep their cages away from drafty areas, such as a window or vents.

A more common way for them to catch a cold is if they got wet. This can happen several ways. Make sure that wherever they decide to make their bed, it is not under their water bottle. If it drips on them, they could catch a cold. Another way is if you don't dry them off properly after a bath. If it takes too long for them to dry themselves, they could catch a cold.

But to be safe, take her to the vets,i've only ever had one hamster that has died because of illness,it had the symptons of a cold, but it had an very serious disease that infects the lungs.

  3. You could call the petshop where you got her and ask what you should do for her.  karen

  4. What kind of shavings do you have her in?  Get her on newspaper or something like carefresh ASAP it sounds like an upper respiratory problem.  It's extremely difficult to treat hamsters yourself and chances are, a vet wouldn't be able to help either.  The best you can hope for is that the change of bedding will help her get better over time.

  5. shes probably having nighmares. probably thinking of something that happened terrible in the past. She probably does have the flu. I would advise you on going online and looking up illnesses. Good Luck.

p.s. He/she coud be dieing. It depends on how long you had he/she.

  6. well i dont really know what you could do besides take her to the vet...maybe just watch her for a few days and she might get better on her own.

  7. I don't  think there is a way to treat an ill hamster at home, maybe tell the vet the problem and maybe she will let you work as a cleaner upper around the office. Please take your poor hammy to the vet!

  8. she has a respiratory illness, you HAVE to take her to the vet, this is like if you had bronchitis or asthma, put your pet's needs before yours for the moment. she will need antibiotics.

  9. theres not much you can do keep her warm but it dose not look good she may die

  10. my mum used to tell me bout this and she fed her hamster warm milk and brandy-only a lil bit- when she got a cold and she was fine. im not sure if it will help but ur welcome to give it a try.

thinkin of u hope it gets better soon millie

  11. It could be a respiratory problem. If you're using pine, cedar, or sawdust wood shavings, you should buy different bedding, because those shavings are toxic, especially to smaller rodents like hamsters.

Or, like a lot of other people are saying, I think your hamster has a cold. Give your hamster fresh water every day and be sure it's warm and snug. It could also be an age problem; Hamsters usually live to about 2 or 3 years old.

I'll have my fingers crossed for your hammy! :-)
