How do I highlight my hair like this picture?

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/8312/hl1pm3.jpg

want my hair thinly highlighted and almost exactly like the girl in the picture.

What is the process of doing this and how long does it take?

Also, could it be possible for me to do it myself?

  1. Well depends how long your hair is now. If its short you could give it a try but I want to warn you, my friend had her aunt do it for her instead of paying to go to a salon and her whole head turned out blonde. You really should have good experiance before even thinking of trying it for yourself, unless you are prepared for the consequences.

    Take care, Alex

  2. Unless you have experience with foils, then you should probably get it done professionally. Or, if your hair is on the shorter side, you can get a weave cap and pull through larger chunks and then bleach it with an appropriate mixture from Sally Beauty Supply...the people that work there will know what kind to get for you. At home highlighting or bleaching is what causes the most hair s***w-ups, so you may end up spending even more if you have to go to the salon to fix something that you did.

  3. Natural highlights can be *accentuated* by simply rinsing the hair in diluted lemon juice, & then sunning it!

Highlights that you couldn't see before stand out!

They blend much better, & are so much prettier than chemical highlights!

Also, much cheaper, & easier to do!

It is a gradual process, but the stronger the dilution, the faster it may be.  You might even try not rinsing it off until after 'sunning'--but I can't guarantee that it won't damage your hair, done that way!

If using this method, be sure to *decide for sure* where you are going to be parting your hair, because the sunlight will 'bleach' only what it hits!   ...No one else will need to know, though!

PS: I've heard of using vinigar instead of lemon juice --lime juice would probably work just as well-- , but I hear that vinigar gives hair a usually unwanted color, somehow.  So, I would avoid using vinigar!

  5. Yes you can do it yourself get a tipping cap or weave cap (might want to cut the holes open as they are tiny) pull your hair randomly thru the holes all over your head. Like the picture large spots then smaller spots and so on mix the dye after you  do this the apply following the directions. make sure you use a good conditioner afterwards. Follow the directions you will be fine DO NOT OVER PROCESS IT!
