Solve for the given domain. Write the solution as a set of ordered pairs.

2x – 2y = 3, domain {-1, 0, 1, 2}.

1. {(-1, -2.5), (0, -1.5), (1, .5), (2, .5)}

2. {(-1, -2.5), (0, 1.5), (1, -.5), (2, .5)}

3. {(-1, -2.5), (0, -1.5), (1, -.5), (2, .5)}

4. {(-1, 2.5), (0, 1.5), (1, -2.5), (2, .5)}

Solve for the given domain. Write the solution as a set of ordered pairs.

y = 1.5x + 9 domain {-1, 0, 1, 2}.

1. {-1, 10.5), (0, 9), (1, 10.5), (2, 12)}

2. {(-1, 8.5), (0, 9), (1, 10.5), (2, 11.5)}

3. {(-1, 7.5), (0, 9), (1, 10.5), (2, 12)}

4. {(-1, 8.5), (0, 9), (1, 10.5), (2, 12)}

  1. To solve these you need to let x equal each value in the domain and solve for y in the equation.

    In the first problem the domain is {-1, 0, 1, 2}.  Let x = -1 and solve for y.

    2(-1) - 2y = 3

    -2 - 2y = 3

    -2y = 5

    y = -2.5

    So answer 4 is wrong.

    Now let x = 0 and solve for y.

    -2y = 3

    y = -1.5

    So answer 2 is wrong.

    Now let x = 1 and solve for y.

    2(1) - 2y = 3

    -2y = 1

    y = -.5

    So answer 1 is wrong.

    Then the correct answer is 3. {(-1, -2.5), (0, -1.5), (1, -.5), (2, .5)}

    Do the same thing for the second problem.  Let x = -1 and solve for y.

    y = 1.5(-1) + 9

    y = 9 - 1.5

    y = 7.5

    Then the correct answer is 3. {(-1, 7.5), (0, 9), (1, 10.5), (2, 12)}

    Hope this helps you!
