Question:

PLEASE HELP ME decorate my room?

This is the fifth time asking this, but i haven't gotten a lot of good ideas really...

Maybe you can help.

I am 14 and I'm moving into my brothers old room. Obviously, I'm redecorating it, and i'd like it to be more mature than my current room, like teenaged mature, but still with a second grade twist. Not TOO second grade, but like something like a kite hanging from the wall of something. I currently have a lot of stuffed animals surrounding my bed (which helps with the "second grade" twist) and i'd like to find a new place to put them. But I kind of just want like second grade stuff formed into more mature stuff, like making a stuffed animal chair or something.

Another thing i'd like is for it to be partly girly, like bright colors etc., but also tomboyish, like mud slatters or fishing poles or something.

It has to have a hard wood floor too so i can practice dancing.

I'm on a pretty tight budget.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help!

  1. Try this web site for bedroom ideas:  www.walmart.com.  Under home furnishings you could use a media storage tower for all your stuffed animals. Under chairs there are cute beanbag chairs and you could add stuffed fun pillows to it.  Look under bedding there is a nice Multistripe Bed in a Bag. Look in the toy department and find a kite or even in a party section for hanging decorations.

  2. not sure how but mayb you could make the kite as like a lamp or all the way onto the ceiling thatd be a lot of fun, also mayb you could paint the ceiling sky blue but if you dont want 2 much second grade NO CLOUDS :] mayb some very light colors and black bedspread, look around on sites like pottery barn for IDEAS because its way 2 xpensive, i also have a tight budget for redoing my room, mayb you could put all your stuffed animals on a shelf for the 2nd grade idea keep the wood floor definately, the tomboy theme could come in with the light blue and black alternating walls or something, mayb light green and mayb a few bright pink shelves on the black wall, or mayb a light purple walls and a light blue wall with 2 black ones, mayb on your bed a few of your stuffed animals and a few soccer ball pillows, or CDs posters dancing shoes hanging from your ceiling or on the walls, a mix of your interests everywhere itll look great!!! go 2 behr.com 2 look for paint schemes:]

  3. Ok go to sites that are about how to revambe old stuff go to thrift stores and paint and redecorate the things for a whole new look make and sew curtains pillows rugs what eve us old stuff of ur family and just be creative

many girl's room pictures you can refer. all free!

  5. hang bows and ribbons  from the ceiling and put a  kite in the middle  and  pant the base of the walls a turquise color and put mud  splatters  in radom places and  just make it original

  6. I say polka dots. =] You can't go wrong with those. Maybe along the bottom of the wall near the floor you can do a row or two, but mostly on the ceiling. If you have a ceiling that can't be painted on, I'd say choose one wall and paint a ton of brightly colored polka dots on that. If you end up doing the latter, then make your bed and nightstands or whatever go up against the polka-dotted wall, or anything that you feel should be given positive attention.

As for second grade-ish things, I'd suggest using the fur of stuffed animals and decorating pillows with it, maybe sewing on a white teddy bear's face to a pillowcase, and using buttons to decorate the pillow case to match the rest of the room (heh, polka dots, buttons, get it? xD).

  7. First congratulate yourself on the fact that you have a bigger, spacier, and private room. Now for the decorating: For the stuffed animals, you can ask your dad, your brother, and maybe all of you to get some shelves, in all different sizes, and hang them biggest one on the bottom and smallest on top, and then put your animals there. You can also put picture frames and put it pictures of whatever you want together with the animals. Here's a little tomboyish twist: In the shelves you can put in action figures or mini soccer balls and maybe some of those little hot-wheels cars, but don't stuff the shelves completely. Just as many as you think look good. Now for the bed, kepp maybe two or three stuffed animals, and if you have more stuffed animals put them in places throughout the room and maybe place a small one in a vanity.

Speaking of vanities, that's a nice girly touch to any room. If you don't have one you can ask your mom to help you look around the house for any small table that is not in use, or any small desk not in use would be helpful too. If you have a kiddy blanket, by that i mean, a blanket or bed sheet or even throw that has a second grade element to it. Use it as a table cloth to a flat table. Now if your desk/table is not flat, fret not. You can just put a smaller sheet that could fit in the largest part of it to cover it. Put the vanity in any place you want but preferably in your own private corner of the room. And if you have a smaller mirror, you can ask a parent or another adult to hang it over the vanity. That could be your dress up/make-up area.

Want kites or the feel of one, if you live near a Chinatown or know a place where they sell paper lanterns, you can buy one for less that 25 dollars and it can come in any color, size, or shape. It almost looks as if it were flying out of your room.

Check out this website to get what I'm talking about:

Make artwork, by that i mean draw, finger paint, anything with art that a second grader does and then hang it in the walls. And if you have any posters you can hang them right next to the drawings. For a more tomboy feel, you can take a big sheet and make a bean bag out of it. For instructions, check out this website: http://www.instructables.com/id/bean-bag...

If you don't have a headboard but have some books laying out of the hose, you can make invisible bookshelves, since books capture both maturity and childishness and you can stash in books of any genre or any age. For instructions check out this website: http://www.instructables.com/id/Invisibl...

For design ideas, check out these websites, and if you want to make something but you think its out of your budget, search how to make it online. That's what I did and worked: For example, for the bean bag, I just typed this on Google: "how to make a bean bag" with " " because you get more direct results. Now you can also type how to make a bean bag with out quotes and you might get the same results. I did the same thing for the invisible book shelves as well.

And if you want a furniture a certain color, remember there is spray paint. Ask a parent or adult to do it. Tell them to prime it too!You can even get stencils and spray paint them on furniture or even walls to get an awesome look.Take this picture for inspiration:
