is their any connotation or juxtaposition in the novel The Things They Carried

  1. Juxtaposition is his literary carry of fact and fiction through out the novel.

    A connotation in this story would be the most obvious of in which the killing of boys is considered a sport and is o.k. in their society but yet when killing a baby, no matter what race, is is highly frowned upon and the author had made it clear in his writings that this was seen as vial and disgusting.

    And as for the tone the book itself is written in a 3rd person and has an omniscient style which was written realistically and he realism is pressed on by the nature of the setting which was places in a war zone.
