I just went today to the foot doctor and he cut the nail and left some open raw skin. At first it didn't hurt because it was numb, but now the numbing thing wore off and it hurts. I took 600 mL of ibuprofen just 2 hours ago. its not really helping and it hurts real bad. What should i do? I cant take the bandage off because i just got back 3 hours ago and he told me not to take it off until tomorow night. Now what?

  1. No do not take it off until tommorow night. Because it could get infected. I would say wait out the night and if you are still in pain then call him first thing in the morning and see what he suggests

  2. Your toe is going to thump worst while the numbing medication is wearing off, and for the first day or so.  Get yourself into a comfy chair and off your feet.  Prop the foot up level with your waist, to decrease the arterial blood flow, and apply some ice.  Tiny frozen peas work best, since they will conform to the toe shape better than an ice cube.  Then distract yourself as best you can, and take your Motrin (ibuprofen).  It will hurt less tomorrow.

  3. I agree.Wait til mornin and call your Doctor

  4. What about icing it?

  5. Call tonight.

All doctors offices have after hours care.

An answering service will forward your info. to the doctor or nurse on call who will call you back in approx. 20.

He/She will suggest things you can do to feel better NOW!

  6. hang in there...tomorrow it will be feeling better.try to get some sleep.

  7. no don't take it off.. I just went through that. The meds will kick in, watch a movie or something to take your mind off it. It will fell way better tomorrow than it did before you went to the doctor.
