not eating but drinking water, a local vet said 700$ fotests and xray ???????? she couldnt do it. she found a couple of hairballs,looks like anyway.,she coming to my vet tommorow ? any ideas what could be occuring? is there a home remedy to help with hairballs? thanx

The only way to really find out is to take the cat to the vet.

cats cannot go without food for a couple of days, they HAVE to eat. Find a vet willing to give you a reduced price or pay it off, explain you dont have the money but the cat is very ill and needs emergency help.

Hairballs shouldnt cause this type of problem there is something else wrong with the cat.

Vaseline or hairball remedy some cats don't like the flavored stuff from the store so Vaseline { the pure kind } works as well and they will accept it .

Hairballs can be controlled by feeding hairball control food, regular grooming to remove excess hair, and by giving hairball treatment (essentially flavored petroleum jelly). BUT if she has a hairball that's causing a blockage, she may need surgery. 8 years isn't old for a cat. Indoor cats can live up to 20 years. The cat does need to see the vet though to rule out complications and get a treatment plan started.
