I was wondering if I needed to puppy-proof my bedroom? I'm getting a 10 week old lab puppy and his crate and food is going to be in my bedroom. If I do then what do I need?

And also, is it safe for her to sleep at the foot of my full bed the first night?

Thanks so much and please answer. :]

  1. ya its prob safe and you should prob pick things up

  2. Yes you definitely need to puppy-proof your room because they will tear up furniture!  Plus if you get a 10 week old then every about 3 hrs you need to wake up and take care of the puppy!  I reccomend buying puppy pads!

  3. yes, puppy proofing your bedroom is a good idea. having a crate is a great start with a nice comfy blanket inside of it. and yes, it should be perfectly safe for him to sleep at the foot of your bed, but expect some whimpering and crying. they will do that the first few nights away from the mother and litter mates. good luck.

  4. you need to use the crate- if he sleeps with you in your bed one night- the next night will be harder- if needed sleep on the floor next to his crate so he can see and smell you.

get down on puppy level and look at what he could chew on- shoes, electircal cords, etc

  5. yeah u never know so.... u should probbly puppy proof it, and 2nd of all iwould let her slep at the foot of the bed just to make her comfy. hope i helped!

  6. I would puppy proof your room because my collie puppy chews on everything. It's your discision if you want it to sleep at the foot of your bed because the first few nights are scary for them but they also might wet your bed

  7. First is your dog potty trained if not don't take it out of the cage the first day you have it or you will suffer the consequences. Also you don't really need anything in your room to prepare for but don't let anything in your possession be on the floor to long or it could possibly be teared in the end.

  8. Yes puppy proof.  Any thing he can reach he will chew, any thing.  So keep things off the floor and out reach.  Keep closet doors shut.  And make sure he can not get a hold of any electrical wires.  He should sleep in his crate till his mature enough to be left alone by him self.  If you are a sleep and he wakes up, he could get into lots of trouble.

  9. Well, put anything valuable up high where the puppy can't chew it up. If you leave something out, the puppy will start teething and want to chew on your things. Don't leave anything poisonous or sharp out, the puppy could chew on it. And also, your puppy will probably decide to go to the bathroom in your room, so be prepared. All things considered, enjoy your new pup! :)

  10. You sure do....its not right to punish a puppy for chewing on things etc.  if they are left in his reach.

I wouldn't let your dog sleep on your bed the first night.  He will expect it from now on.
