For about a week now I have been really itchy down there...it's not near my opening or inside of it, it's between mY "lips". I DON'T have discharge that looks like cottage cheese. It just looks white and sticky but it's not alot at all. It is also getting cracks down there, like the skin splits open if I pull on it trying to look between the lips. It is a little red, but not too bad. I have been using vagisil for about a week. What could this be? IS there anything to cure this without seeing a Doctor (kind of embarrased)?

Other details --- 6 months post-partum, forcep delivery with very bad tearing and an episiotomy, stitches didn't dissolve properly but now are dissolved but lots of painful scar tissue lumps.

---on Yasmin for 3 months at a time then a period (first time trying this have not had period in 2.5months)

NOT BREASTFEEDING.

no burning while peeing or anything

been applying vagisil everytime I got to the bathroom

s*x not more painful then any other time since giving birth

  1. you really should see a doctor.  if the vagisil isn't working stop using it, you could be having a reaction to it.  don't take baths because  you sit in your body oils, it won't help....alot of my medical questions are answered at www.webmd.com  it will allow to check off your symptoms and find home remedy's before going to the doctor....i try aviod dr.'s too but somethings such as this you should....good luck

after looking up your symptoms that you listed, it could be a reaction to the vagisil or a furthur complication from the stitches desolving...something more internal....you need a doctor hun...

  2. I would get an appointment with my GYN as soon as I could. While it could just be the "common yeast infection" and easily treated with over the counter remedies it could be something a lot worse. When it comes to your health, treat yourself like a Queen and get that help as soon as possible.

  3. Try an over the counter yeast infection cure - like monistat - can get in any pharmacy. If this does not work, go to doctor. Also check for white spots in baby's mouth, as this means the yeast infection is shared between you and baby - not dangerous, just would need to be treated.

  4. I concur with the previous posters.  It sounds like a yeast infection.  Vagisil will not cure it.  Monistat will.  Go get some

  5. I have soap sensitivities that do that to me, but in addition to your symptoms I also burn down there.  It feels like my girly parts are sunburned.  My daughter and son also have that problem and can't even use bubble bath because it hurts them too much.

The white stuff is probably smegma (seriously).  When the skin down there dries out, all those skin cells slough off and you end up with smegma buildup.

If the little cracks hurt, try using some Lansinoh.  That stuff soothes more than just cracked nipples.

This might sound gross, but try not washing with anything but plain water for a few days to let things get back to normal.  And if you've been using any new products (soap, laundry detergent, scented maxi pads, etc.) stop using them.

  6. Don't be embarrassed!   Your OB-GYN has heard it all before . . .I think you should discuss this with him or her since you are 6 months post-partum and had some issues with the delivery.

Vagisil is only to deaden the itchy feel, it doesn't actually "cure" anything.  So, if Vagisil gives you some comfort, great, but it's not a medicine.

I think you need a prescription.   Don't make an appointment -- just call into the office and see what the doctor says first, then follow his or her advice.

  7. It sounds like it could be a yeast infection.  I was on Yasmin for 4 years and constantly had yeast infections!  At least 1 every month.  As soon as I stopped taking Yasmin, my infections went away and I haven't had one since (it's been a year and 1/2!).  Eat a lot of yogurt, or something else that's a good source of probiotics.  Get a pack of new underwear.  I know that sounds weird, I used to do that if I couldn't get rid of an infection, it would always help!  And then I would wash the underwear that I had been wearing in hot water (I just kept passing the bacteria back to myself without realizing it!).  The doctor can give you a pill (assuming it is indeed a yeast infection), it's called Diflucan and it's wonderful!  It's a one dose pill that should get rid of the infection.  Those over-the-counter monostat remedies always made things worse for me.  I would always request Diflucan.

Good luck!!!  I hope you feel better soon!

    Good luck!!

  8. I'm thinking that it could be Bacterial Vaginosis and if it is, you will need an antibiotic.  If you have been pregnant and delivered a baby, why are you embarrased to show a doctor?  He/she has already seen everything you've got!

  9. i agree 100% with Mandy (poster above me)

i developed the same thing as you describe after i went through a hormone change when i was 21.

i went through a very difficult time and ended up on hormone-balancing treatment. once my hormones got sorted out i was able to go off treatment and now at 28 my hormones are still exactly as they should be. the only side effect i had from the treatment was vaginal sensitivity.

i now have what is like an allergic reaction or sensitivity reaction to scented toilet papers, soaps, condoms, fabric softeners, laundry detergents etc.

my reactions include a sunburny feeling SOMETIMES (not always), white itchy stuff on the sides of my lips (not inside) and sometimes little dots.

to treat it i wash myself thoroughly with baby scent-freee and soap-free liquid soap. then dry thoroughly. I then (embarrassing as this may sound and sorry if too much information) air dry for as long as i can. exposure to air is the best way to cure my reactions.

after i do this, the whole thing goes back to normal and i can carry on normally with no trouble at all.
