i am looking into making a cd party favor to give as a present to guests of our engagement party. i have a list of "love" songs, classics and some fun modern ones, songs that mean alot to us, there are also going to be a couple of italian and arabic songs. it should be really nice, on the front of the cd we want to print our picture and the date of the engagement, maybe a quote or maybe the list of songs...anyways i was wondering if any of you know of a really good deal where i can have this professionally done, or of a simple way i can do it myself, or what you think of the idea in general. but mostly i am concerned with the cost. we are going to need atleast 100 if not 125 of them(big families) and i have the order pretty much ready from giftcd.com(except for the date which is a surprise!) but it is really expensive!! i am having second thoughts about doing it through them...

so, can anyone reccomend a better site or maybe a place i can go to...i would greatly appreciate it!!!

  1. It depends on how much of a rush you're in, you can do it yourself quite inexpensively.   I have an Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer that prints right onto CDs/DVDs, you just need to get the right blanks.  For these I go through shop4tech.com.  Buy in bulk and buy cases in bulk and you'll be looking at about $0.75 each.

In case you go this route, go to a good stationary store and buy a can of "Archive It" spray and give the printed CDs a light coat to avoid any smearing.

BTW, replacement ink for the printer is very cheap.  I get aftermarket stuff on ebay for about $2.00 per cartridge.

Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions.

  2. My husband did ours as party favorsd at our wedding. It is super cheap to do. You buy blank cds with clear cases at costco or best buy, they run around $0.50 - $1.00 each and then you buy the sticker labeler kit at best buy probably costs around $50. for 100 people you are looking at $100 - $150 plus some of your time burning all the cds.
