Cannot get her to a vet until the morning. If I remember rightly... she should be wrapped in a cool damp cloth to keep the body temp down. Is there anything else we should do to help her. she looks very pale around the eyes and mouth and she is extremely lethargic

  1. Give her cold water.  Try to feed it to her with a syringe if you have one

  2. water with some sugar in it to raise her blood glucose levels. hydrate the cat , feed it, let it sit in water, her skin will absorb some of the water.

  3. Treatment: EMERGENCY MEASURES MUST BEGIN AT ONCE. Take the rectal temperature every 10 minutes. Mild cases respond by moving the cat to cooler surroundings such as an air-conditioned building or car. If the temperature is over 106°F or if the cat becomes unsteady, apply wet cold towels or immerse the cat in cold water until the rectal temperature reaches 103°F. As an alternative, wet the cat down with a garden hose. Ice packs can be applied to the head. Stop the cooling process and dry the cat when the temperature falls below 103°F. The thermoregulatory system is not functioning normally. Further cooling may produce hypothermia.

Heat stroke is an emergency. Cool the cat with a spray or immerse in a tub of cold water.

Heat stroke can be associated with swelling of the throat. This aggravates the problem. A cortisone injection by your veterinarian may be required to treat this.

  4. its a little something called...

    WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Do all of the above!

But have u tried ringing all the local vets? they should have a emergency call out person!

  6. I know today is sunday, but try to take her to a vet.  Try and find an emergency, vet number.  Try to get her to drink water but don't force her.  You can coax her into drinking water by also feeding her dry food, which might make her thirsty.  Don't cuddle her too much, that only transfers over your own body heat.  Keep her cool with the cloth, she'll be okay.  Get her to a vet tomorrow at least.

  7. water, NAO!!!

and find an emergency vet in a phone book ASAP

  8. Put her in the bath and shower her with cold water for a few minutes. observe her colour (mucous membranes/tongue) to make sure she is getting enough oxygen and it is circulating her body. once she has cooled down place her in a cool room and offer plenty of fluids. dont let her back out for the rest of the day

  9. Try to let her drink water.

You can also put her in the tub with cold water. she might be scared.

But it can save her life.

Make sure the air conditioner is on.

Good luck, i hope she is okay.

Im a huge cat lover, and i dont know what i would do without them

  10. you need to find the nearest emergancy vet clinic NOW.  Do not wrap the cat in a wet towel as this will trap heat in the wrap. On your way to that clinic, let her lay on her side and place ice packs between her back legs and on her belly area and at her throat.

  11. Oh no! D:

Uh... Put your cat infront of the fan/AC to cool her down!

Take her to walmart or some place if you don't have AC.

Mabey let her l**k an ice cube or something.

Edit: Yeah, Take her to an emergency vet!!

  12. most areas have a er for pets. please find one. yes cool cat down with wet compresses. try and get it to drink some water.

  13. My dog had it last year (on a Sunday too). We filled a watering can and just covered him for a few minutes (as per the emergency vets instructions). He just let us do it. I guess the cat may bolt though, if she does, it's obviously a good sign.

  14. make sure she is in a cool place, get the a/c going but don't put her right next to it. Make sure she has water, give her a shallow bath.

  15. Try to get her to drink water. If my cat doesn't want to drink, I get his bowl and I dip my finger in it and put it to his mouth and he licks it. Sometimes this gets him to start drinking out of the bowl. The cool damp cloth sounds like a good idea too. I hope your cat feels better.

  16. Try to find an emergency vet emidiatley.. Just try to keep her cool and stuff intill then. Try to show her the water. Put a dab of milk in it just to give the water color. Make sure she is inside and in a cool enviorment!

    Hope everything turns out ok!

  17. if you have a large electric fan put it near her and keep giving her water through the syringe also keep putting water on a towel not too hot and put that round her keep an eye on her at all times until you are sure he r temperature is at a safe level i hope she is ok and take her to the vet first thing tomorrow good luck

  18. Hey lizybell, that aint nice! yes, keep that towel around her and put a bag of ice on her body.keep doin this till mornin. hope this helps a little! :)

  19. ANY Emergency VET ASAP!!

On the Way - use rubbing alcohol on cotton alls to dampen inside part of the ears and on the pads of feet - helps to pull out the heat.

    Yes to the cool towels.

Never use ice or very cold water - too much to fast can drop a high temp to far to fast.

Taker her temp rectaly every 15 - 20min.  Stop cooling her off when she hits 103 to 104 as she should continue to come down on own

Keep checking because if it goes back up, her brain circuits are in trouble and there is little you can do but get her somewhere fast for serious medical attention.
