  1. Freedom Fighters is the name of a DC Comics comic book superhero team made up of characters acquired from the defunct company Quality Comics. The team first appeared in a Justice League of America/Justice Society of America team-up, which ran in Justice League of America #'s 107 and 108 (October and December 1973), written by Len Wein and drawn by d**k Dillin. Their own ongoing series premiered with Freedom Fighters #1 (April 1976), written by Gerry Conway and Martin Pasko, and drawn by Rik Estrada.

    Terrorist kill innocent people!!!!

  2. "Freedom fighter" describes somebody who is fighting for "freedom."  It doesn't specify what methods s/he uses in the fight.  He might use only words, civil disobedience, violence against the putative oppressors, or terror against defenseless civilians.  His goal is "freedom."

"Terrorist" refers to somebody who uses terrorism to gain his/her goals.  Terrorism specifically refers to random attacks on defenseless civilians rather on military targets.  The purpose is to create such terror in the population that the enemy will surrender without actually fighting.

As I described, a freedom fighter might be a terrorist.  An example is the American John Brown, a person who still inspires ambivalence.  He is admired for fighting for freedom and equality for Blacks in the time of slavery.  He is equally despised for his massacres of defenseless civilians.

In my opinion, anybody who engages in terrorism fouls the cause he is fighting for.  Freedom cannot, in fact, come out of terrorism.

  3. a freedom fighter leaves freedom behind. a terrorist just leaves death.

  4. The first dude gave the right answer. People think there are a lot of "freedom fighters" with a bad label, when, in fact, there are a lot of terrorists with a false "good" label.

  5. the difference is in who is defining the words

yesterdays terrorist is today's freedom fighter

because history is written by the victory , and should always be taken with a grain of salt

our revolutionary fighters were considered gurillas and terrorists  because we wouldnt fight in a straight line

our boston tea party was a direct attack on comerce and another act of terrorism it was not done agaisnt a military target

but they are considered patriots today because we won that war , they would of been hanged rightly by the british crown for terrorist and treasonist acts if the british won

  6. The phrase: "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" is a load of bull.

There's terrorism. Terrorism is a technique. A terrorist is one who uses terrorism. A "freedom fighter" could use terrorist techniques but it's STILL TERRORISM. If you take hostages or are killing innocent civilians, you sacrifice all of your moral authority that the term "freedom fighter" implies. You damage your cause and you become the oppressor you are trying to fight against.

You can't fight oppression with more oppression. It just doesn't work like that. If you want to resort to violence you need to take it to the ones who deserve it, the one's who are doing the oppressing, regardless of how well armed that person or persons may be. TERRORISM=COWARDICE

  7. A freedom fighter would basically fight for his country from an occupation, or a major power gaining foot in his homeland. The freedom fighter is just protecting his country from the invader, and/or trying to liberate from an army, or threat.

A terrorist would basically create fear, or terror in some un-conventional way. A terrorist would invade other countries, take over a government, or enslave their own people. Examples of terrorists would be the CIA, MI6, Mossad, and the US government.

  8. That would be a matter of prospective. The German considered the french resistance terrorist, we called them freedom fighters.

One mans freedom fighter is another man's terrorist.

  9. A freedom fighter will attack the forces which restrict him, meaning the government, occupiers, etc.

A terrorist will attack the public \ civilian population in order to obtain political gains rather then military gains.

Hence a freedom fighter seeks military gains, and a terrorist political gains.

  10. It's very simple, really.

If the person is on America's side, they are a freedom fighter.

If they are not, they are a terrorist.
