Ok this is the only way to explain it..

Draw a hexagon

draw a line from across each corner, making a centre in the middle with triangles around it

If i was using MDF, and this was a 3d objcect

how could i join up all the wood coming from each corner to the middle?

  1. cut or sand the appropriate angles on the MDF and then use PVA glue.

alternatively, make plastic/metal/paper (depending on your purpose) hinges and either nail or glue them over the outside of the joins,

  2. simple straight cuts, butt joint and glue them together. reinforce on the backside with some 1x2s or 2x2s depending on the size of hex you're making

    - water based glue are out ( not good for MDF)

    - so you have heat set glue or epoxy based glue

  3. Cut the mdf as you would for say rafters on a hip roof.... basically a point on each of the meeting edges of the mdf, then glue it with mitre mate, as cramping or fixing will be a nightmare (very rapid adhesive (5 secs))

  4. I have bee thinking for a ong time now.

I would save the MDF for bonfire night. 5/11/08

  5. Use mitre joints (edge to edge), each angled at 30 degrees up the length. Inset the base and top if you have them. Glue and pin all joints. Depending on the size and thickness of the board you are using, this should give an adequate area for gluing which would probably be strong enough. You can reinforce mitres by routing a slot in ach of the faces to be joined and fitting a loose 'tongue'.

If you rebated all the short edges, (by the thickness of the board) before you start you would create a ledge on which the base and top would fit.

  6. Y'know, I think you would do better if you ask this question in the engineering section.

To mold the three d object you would have to have a Die made.

It's obvious that the people intending to help you are not engineers
