PLEASE READ -MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES on a Sat??

my fiance is in the navy at great lakes naval base and i want to com eup on the weekend of the 26th hes going to get off on a friday.. and i know you have to get your license first and 24 hours later get your marriage certificate. do you know if the office is open on saturdays to get the certificate??? or is he going to have to get off on a thursday and a friday cuase idk if he can do that

has anyone done this on a sat?

  1. you have to apply for your marriage license during normal work day hours

    if he gets off on Friday early enough you should have plenty of time to get there and get it


  2. You have to get your license during normal business hours M-F, at least 24 hours before the wedding itself.

    The marriage CERTIFICATE is usually mailed to you after the officiant files it with the county - typically it wouldn't be available the next day even if the ceremony was in the middle of the week.  Usually the certificate takes up to 6 weeks to be mailed, although you can pick one up at the county office sooner (just most likely not the day after the ceremony).  I'd give it at least a few days for the officiant to file it and for the county to file it properly on their end to be able to locate it when you ask.
