Ok. So I am a girl high school golfer for my schoool team. I was the first girl and over the years it's grown to about 4 this year. On facebook it said on the side that TAKKLE was a place I could put my statistics and things, and colleges would look at it. Does anybody know if it's real, and if there's another way if it's not? I'm trying to get scholarships.. Please help!

  1. colleges don't really award golfers... it's not a competitive sports like football, baseball, basketball, and soccor etc.

but it wouldn't hurt to list it on there for them to look at.

  2. The best way to get scholarships and schools interested is to contact the coaches directly.

Send them videos of your swing, and make it look as professional as possible...

The easiest way to set yourself apart though would be to win tournaments, and medal every time you play a high school match.

  3. I wouldnt put much faith in that site.  However, what I suggest is that you have some one video tape you playing.  Edit it down to a nice hightlight reel of some good drives, some good approach shots, maybe some bunker play and some good puts.  Send that with a cover letter to the coaches of the colleges of your choice and see if that will get you an interview  At worst, you are getting your face and name out there.  I have known football and baseball players that have done this to varying degree of sucess.

  4. For all of you saying that low 80's aren't good for a girl in high school are wrong. And for the guy that was talkin about being in the 60's and hittin 300+ drives is talkin about guys golf. Takkle is real and they work with sports illustrated and the section in the magazine that is the Faces in the Crowd. Put your stuff on there and see what happens. Good Luck!

  5. Hi there, Takkle is definitely real and there are a lot of coaches on it. It's a fun site to meet other athletes, too. The best thing to get started is to setup your profile and look for some other people that play golf.

  6. Whatever college your looking at....talk to the golf coach and see what he advises..you can get a scholarship in golf believe it or not....

  7. Low 70's and 80's is not that good if you want a scholarship, the kids at our local high school are in the 60's so you have your work cut out for you. They have extended the distances of the courses also because many are 300yd + average drivers.

  8. TAKKLE  is a real college recruit helper, but ive heard many college recruiters say that they don't look at recruitment sites, they would rather the athlete contact the coach and have them come out and watch you.

this is known based off of personal experience and i wish more people would know... good luck!
