  1. I google'd this.

  2. Hip-Hop isn't Ballet - One is Hip - Hop, one is Ballet.

For ballet each move is very specific and each has a French name. Every movement the dancer makes is meant to be exactly the same as a dancer would do it somewhere else, and your movements should be tightly flowing, with feet pointed and muscles pulled in. the movements should always put some sort of stress on the muscles as a form of excercising, so even simple turns and piruetes can fatigue the dancer after a long period of time. ballet music has a very distinct classical feel and can be slow or fast.

however, in hip hop there are sometimes more than one name for a step and the varieities of that step can change from classroom to classroom. theyre usually all names like "dolphin" or "jumping over the barell," not at all the consistency heard in ballet terms. The movements show freedom of expression, and the shoes used are much different than ballet shoes. the music is usually much more bouncy and can be just the normal music you listen to everyday.

  3. BALLET is nothing like hiphop why would you have a problem with differentiating them

  4. How can you even compare Ballet and Hip Hop.. You can't

    BALLET IN PLAIN ENGLISH.

    NOW HIP HOP

    HIP HOP FIRSTS

Ballet is classical dancing. You move like the wind ,You are elegant

pricise and dont jiggle and wiggle like jelly as in ( HIP HOP). You keep time to music

Your body is a classical instrument... When you audition for the ballet

My daughter was in the National Ballet of Canada.. ( They look at your body first) and if your body does not fit.. YOU ARE OUT. You are a

dancer and  a classic artist.. You are a classical dance musician. Your instrument is your body. You learn Classical Repetroire and music ( when you dance) YOU DONT JUMP AND FLIP AS IN HIP HOP

Ballet is refined.. You are as graceful as a gazelle and as musical as classic music You dance with prescribed ballet movements ( set of dance step) basic and keep to the dance of the music.

Hip Hop.. You move shake flip and turn tumble.. You are your own master.. You have to be very creative. You can move all parts of your

body.. You don't have to have a certain type of body to dance HIP HOP

You are your own master of your body and dance. It is very difficult to

HIP HOP IS EARTHY.. YOUR STYLE , YOUR MUSIC, YOUR INTERPRETATIONS ARE  YOUR OWN.. IT IS AS DIFFICULT AS BALLET IF ( YOU ARE AN ARTIST AT IT) .. BUT COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

BALLET would be as Classical Music

HIP HOP.. would be as SOUL.. Music

    Best I could do

Ballet and Hip Hop are complete separate. in DANCE .. MOTIFS AND EXPRESSION.. BUT STILL "DANCE" AND ALL CAN APPRECIATE DANCE.

  5. Differentiate? a) hip-hop is most often a style of music, but sometimes dance, ballet is only a type of dance. b) hip-hop originated in the Bronx, NY in the 1970s, ballet originated in 15th century Italian Renaissance court. c) ballet is very formal and classical, hip-hop is not nearly as formal, and very urban. d) ballet is more associated with female dancers, while hip-hop is unisex and almost male-oriented e.g. mostly male DJs, many male hip-hop dancers, artists, etc.

  6. Hip Hop is undulation specified only by a limited reference within a fickle pop culture spectrum. Ballet is a beautiful yet grueling art exacted by a strict set of standards established hundreds of years ago. Both are cool to watch.

Note: there are plenty of male ballet dancers. Ballet tells a story so since there are males in most stories, male ballet dancers are necessary. In western culture there have been only two famous ballet dancers in the last 50 years and both have been male. Nuryev and Baryshnikov.

  7. there's a big difference between the two, in fact i would say that those two disciplines of dance are almost on opposite ends of the spectrum from each other.  you would only have to see a few moments of the two, if even that, before you realized there's a big difference between the two.

ballet is most often associated with classical music, and in my opinion, best performed to classical music.  it doesn't have to be, its just my preference.

signature movements, or earmarks if you will, of ballet are the turned out position of the legs and of course dancing en pointe (aka on their toes).  movements are also light, airy.

hip hop on the other hand is, in my preference, performed to hip hop and r&b music.  the movements are more grounded in nature, harder, and there is definitely no dancing on toes or turned out positions in hip hop, if there is, then it falls under the category of 'stylized jazz'  but for straight hip hop there isn't, which is why i completely enjoy hip hop!

dancing ballet makes me feel so restricted, so formed, so downright uncomfortable!, whereas hip hop makes me feel as though i've been given a enormous boost of energy and have no limits except for when the music ends

  8. how about Hip-Hop and Flamingos!
