PLEASE give me a reason!...(please read!)?

Question

IS GLOBAL WARMING REAL! i want evidence from people who think global warming is not a fact. i want articles, websites, their own explanation whatever, just please have a reason to dispute the theory of global warming. don't just leave a small comment to say so without backing it up. i believe global warming is a fact. but when i have opinions about things i do the research, and have a great understanding of the subject. and thats what i'm doing now, i'm gathering information to form an educated opinion. your help is greatly appreciated.

You know many people want to say I will believe when I see it and since I can't see it is not real.  Those people are reactive they wait until there is a problem then fix it.  Other people say hey it looks like there may be a problem in the future so they take steps to fix it and never see the problem.  These people are proactive.  Often once all the work in prevention is done the reactive people often say ha you did all that work and nothing happened.  Never realizing what really happened.  Many of the other contributors have given many great links to sites with proven scientific evidence backing up global climate change.  The question is do you want to do something or wait until something is done to you.  You being the "Global You"

Of course global warming is real. Nobody disputes this. But AGW, caused by mankind, is self-important nonsense. The same thing happened centuries ago, allowing the Vikings to cross the Northwest Passage and found settlements in Newfoundland. And there were no power plants or SUV's around to blame that time.

Yes and no

Yes, right now the earth is in a warming cycle. It will be here for somewhere around 10 to 12 years, then, as in all the years past, it will swing back to cooler and then it will be warmer again.

These cycles are supposed to be +/- 21 year cycles. Then these cycles are in cycles of their own and go hotter and cooler as time passes. The "global warming" caused by humans does not nor has it ever existed. The Great Smokey Mountain National Forest gives off more ozone than most any city has from cars. That means if it is the ozone doing it, we need to cut down the forest. That all falls as a bunch of garbage because that idea is worth almost as much as garbage.

Remember, according to historians, there has been MORE THAN ONE ICE AGE.

if anyone reading this comment thinks that global warming is a hoax. here is what is guaranteed to happen if it is not. the sun heats up the earth causing the ice caps to melt. then the sea level will rise by quite a bit causing a breakdown in the sea conveyor belt (makes the sea flow or non-stagnant) which will then make the sea go stagnant which will cause a deadly gas in  the water (also found in a lake in new york) but as the sun is still heating up the sea it will cause the deadly gas to evaporate killing everyone and everything.    apart from Bactria.

so next time you re about to throw that piece of paper away think wait if i do this it will contribute to the deadly gas thing that that guy was talking about on yahoo.

Global warming is real and so is global cooling.  We're probably in a warming period now, but some think we're already going back into another cooling cycle like the period from the 1940's to late 70's.

Most scientists believe this is completely natural, but a few want to blame human activity for these climatic changes.  This issue has been politicized to the point where restrictions on activity and increases on taxation will surely prevail.

So there are big consequences if we give into this theory without solid evidence.  So far there's only speculation that humans can change the environment, so we shouldn't rush to judgment without proof.

You don't need a reason...  None of the so-called science behind Gore's movie is based on fact.  All of it is based on fanaticism and fear mongering.  They even tried to re-write history to have that small heat wave after the mini-ice age removed from the history books.  It is incredible what lengths these fanatics go to in order to convince you that global warming is real.

There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming.  What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming.  This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming.  They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles.  They looked at volcanoes, and found that

a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

b) humans emit over 150 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes.  Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions.  We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels.  We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%).  You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

Your inclination is to agree that earth is warming.

However, you want concrete proof, and seem adamant over this discussion.

Discussions like this one usually get many passioned views, but few resolutions.

So, I'll say it's just a falicy, and then give you a few thoughts to ponder...and you decide.

All this talk is just to scare us and keep us intimidated, and not use fossil fuels and save and recycle...

Is anything really wrong with doing that?

We all know that earth's supply of fossil fuels is limited, so why not try and conserve?

Does all the many uses put to fossil fuels have any effect on our climate and the tendency for earth to slowly get warmer?

Common sense says...yes.  

Did the Industrial Revolution, which began about a hundred and fifty years ago, have any affect on earth?

Certainly, and mostly the big polluting corporations are to blame.

Is it possible that the proliferation of capitalism throughout the world can actually work toward healing earth and restoring it's natural resources so that one day earth will be in balance again?

I sincerely hope so.  

The only true way to bring earth back to health is to launch earth freindly corporations who will compete against the polluting corporations, and put them out of business.

To this endeavor, I devote all my energies.  

As the general public keeps disputing this subject, watch and see how slowly we will adopt and make routine all earth friendly products.

It will eventually become a reflex action, and people will follow, as they always do.

And that will eventally bring this subject to an end.

Will take many years and many small sacrifices, but it's the only way.

I noticed you did not list any "facts" you have uncovered that has caused you to believe that the current weather patterns are man made.

The current weather conditions have been repeated over and over for as long as scientists have weather records, and before that via research. Every credible researcher agrees that this planet has been through 5 (and some say six) ice ages prior to the invention of hairspray and the internal combustion engine.

The burden of proof is not on me because I am not the one claiming that this weather pattern, while identical to all prior known weather patterns, is somehow caused by man THIS TIME. The proposed "solutions" to this non existent problem will be devastating to the economy and millions of people worldwide. All because of an illogical theory that ignores the entire planets history and whose adherents cannot even identify what an optimal temperature for the earth would be or what it would be if I burned tree limbs to cook dinner instead of using the electric stove. Human Caused global warming is a fairy tale, and a poor one at that.
