Question:

PLEASE help, what did I just pull out of my rabbits eye?

She is a one year old white dwarf rabbit.

I just looked at her, not five minutes ago, and saw a long piece of fur type thing on her eye. But it looked exactly like the goo we sometimes get on our eyes, in the morning, when we wake up. So I VERY gently pulled it out without touching her eye at all. Was it just eye goo? Or something bad?

Please, help me.

I'm not good at explaining much about this.

  1. It most likely was a clump of fur. When rabbits are molting they can get fur in their eyes. it doesn't seem to bother them but I always remove it when they get it in their eyes.

Your rabbit will be fine. if she is molting(loosing a lot of fur) do not be alarmed rabbit molt once a year. Make sure you give lots of fresh hay and water. You can also give dried papaya or pinapple juice to keep your pet from getting what is called a "furblock".

Rabbits can get fur in their intestines when they l**k themselves during molt. They cannnot expel them like a cat does so it blocks them up.To keep this from happening hay and papaya help.

  2. my dogs get that every once in a while, it should be fine

  3. I have a bunny named maddie and she gets that every other morning..Just gently get a cloth or something and clean it out.  It is Exactly like what we get.  :]

Just be sure to not get the eye though because you could dry them out.

    So yeah its perfectly normal.
