  1. talk in a fake accent all the time and you'll get used to talking like that

  2. Why should you? There is nothing wrong with having an accent. If, however, it is really important to you then look for an elocution teacher, nowadays sometimes called a voice coach. Make sure he/she is a good English teacher too.

It isn't just the sound you make when you speak (accent) but the language you use (dialect and grammar) the latter being fairly straightfoward to learn especially as you have been speaking English for several years. Remember that being bilingual is a great advantage one that many Brits don't have.

  3. Go to logopaedics (speech therapy), they can help you.

  4. I don't know if it's even possible. My aunt has been here for 30 years and she still has an accent. You should hear me speak Chinese...I bet I'm worse.

Note: don't try speaking to me in Chinese - I had one semester in HS a long time ago and hardly remember a word.

Edit: To the German. My grandmother was here for 50 years and still had a THICK accent.

  5. My answer would be go to a foreign country because ang moh can only hear english accented english. BUT since you are already there......

Try finding english text with audio and pronounce the way they do. Good luck to u!

  6. don't. I lost my German accent about 2 years ago, but people can still kinda hear it...it's more unique when you have an accent.

Edit to Elymer: I have lived in Germany eight years ( I'm 14) and when I came to the United States I abandoned my language completly to learn English, I still speak German and everything, though

  7. The more you speak English, the less the accent becomes.

    So don't get frustrated,just speak & speak & speak.
