My kids just found 4 tiny kittens in an abandoned house, NO MOTHER in site. The are the smallest cats I have ever seen. There eyes r open, they r walking and playing and running. I brought them home with me b/c momma cat has been gone all day that I know of. I think someone dumped them off there alone. I can not keep these kittens, no place is open to call what can I do? I live in Jacksonville Florida

I'm not putting them back outside alone, who knows how long they have been out there.

  1. It was very nice of you to pick them up, but momma cat may have been hiding from you.  Your only option is to keep them until an animal shelter opens and drop them off.  I would go back and look for the momma and see if you can't reunite them before you turn them over.  IF they are walking and running, them may be able to eat wet food.  If not, get a can of kitten milk at petco and feed it to them out of a sandwich baggie with a tiny slit in the corner until you can get them to the shelter.  Good luck!

  2. Pet shops take kittens for free, better than the pound where they put them down

They also give them their shots

  3. Bring them to the humane society and if you dont have one close enough, Im sure you can bring them to a vet.   Otherwise, try to find a local foster home for them that fosters pets.  I wouldnt bring them to the pound though... they will probably just die.  If i were in FL i would say give them to me...but yeah.  If you bring them to the vet, the vets will check them out and make sure they find a good place to go.

  4. Oh no! Give kitties some kitten formula from a pet store and then put adds up saying free kittens! Make sure they go to loving homes. I would take them but i don't live in Florida! :(

Keep them in a room where you don't normally hang out. Feed them every hour on the hour, (yes, even @ night!) Provide them w/a disposable litter box and try to potty train them. If at first u don't succeed, try, try again....all that. Good luck! If no one will take them give them to a rescue or neighbor.

  5. According to the Jacksonville Humane Society website you should

"call the city of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Control to file a report at (904) 387-8932"

  6. well can you keep them until the shelter opens tomorrow morning?

you never know you might get attached and want to keep one =]

don't try feeding them milk ( it will ive them a bad tummy ) leave some wet kitten food out and a bowl of water.

if they are too young for this go to your local vets and ask for some baby formula.

  7. look up an animal shelter(not a pound)

call to make sure they r open(if not call a different one)

tell them what u told me

  8. poor little babies! how nice of u to rescue them! well, since its the weekend i would just keep them with u until monday and then call animal control and tell them the situation. or u can take them to a shelter... good luck

  9. Handle them and make sure that they are comfortable with humans and then they will be easy to get rid of here are a few options....

    - Run an ad in your local paper for free kittens

    - If you have a computer you can print out flyers with their picture on it and post them at local areas

    - Find a no kill shelter near you

    - Sit out in your local grocery store with a sign that says free kittens, believe it or not people will take them quickly

    - Go to your local vet clinic and ask them if they can help....they will probably help out alot!!!

You are doing a really great thing...

    Good Luck

  10. call your local animal center and ask if they can take the kittens so they can be put up for adoption.

  11. keep them till there old enough to give away

you will need to get kitten formula and a nursing bodle and feed the kittens by hand , i've done it before .

  12. Well same thing happened to me, except there were two kittens. So one cat was adopted by my neighbors and one had to go to the pound.

  13. Just because you didn't see the momma cat, doesn't mean there isn't one.  She may just not trust humans and runs when they are around (not all cats are friendly towards humans).

You are now responsible for their tiny lives, and you will have to feed them by dropper (and NOT milk!!! You can make them VERY ill using pasteurized milk) with specific kitten formula every 1-2 hours (even at night when you want to sleep).  If you are not willing to undertake this, I would take them to the SPCA immediately so they can either be fostered to someone that is willing, or find a foster-mother that is lactating.  Please, whatever you decide, do it now.

  14. i know!!

  15. Call animal control if you don't want them and they'll come pick them up. Or take them to the vet, get them their shots, and keep them. They'll keep your mice population down.
